hi, sorry for what may be a FAQ-able question, but i scanned the 1st 2 pages of this topic and didn't find a FAQ or see this question.

which (if any) of the Strip hotels have walk-out balconies, and do any of them face the Strip?

TIA

The Tropicana has old fashioned (motel like) rooms that kinda sorta face the Strip (moreso face the MGM Grand). It's funny you should ask, as I was driving by there, today, I thought it would a hoot to rent one of these old school rooms.

Most high-rise LV hotels do not have balconies, or windows that open for that matter (think about it). The MGM has some high-roller suites on upper floors that have outdoor patios. The Hilton has a couple.

Imperial Palace has balconies. That hotel is absolutely disgusting, though. Its only redeeming quality is its location--directly across the street from Caesar's Palace in the middle of the strip.

I thought a better mid-strip choice with balconies would be Bally's, but the "internets" could not confirm this for me.

Here is the best bacony suite I have stayed at on the strip.

Terrace Suite w/Hotub on the Balcony.
Big Balcony.
My G/F had her B-Day with 20 girls in one of these rooms.
They are a little worn but still fit the bill.

Enjoy

Bally's has balconies?? We are staying there this weekend for the first time, was gonna try the ol' $20 trick but had no idea what to ask for. Any insight on the name of these balcony rooms or any other category to request?

Oops: Almost forgot to add, the Hard Rock has balconies in some rooms (we had one in a suite a long time ago), but certainly not strip view since they aren't on the strip.

The strip facing rooms of the old tower at the Sahara have balconies.
Very nice when the weather is good. The rooms are very plain, older, basic.

Well, that's what I get for a faulty memory and dependence on the "internets." :D :D :D I thought Bally's had balconies on the north tower, but can't get confirmation, even though some websites note balconies as an amenity at Bally's. Oh well - I'll edit my original post.

Meanwhile, how about the Platinum? www.theplatinumhotel.com

They're a block or two off the Strip and definitely have balconies.

The balconies at Bally's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MGM_Grand_Hotel_Las_Vegas_hotel_fire) have a certain creepiness to them...

...I didn't recall Bally's having balconies, either, but it seems they at least did at one time.

I stayed in a 3rd floor Tropicana room with a balcony about two years ago. It did indeed face the MGM Grand, but the view wasn't bad at all and the room was decent, if a bit dated.

Most of the newer US hotels dont have usable balconies or fully operable windows. The word is they dont want any non-happy guests jumping off them to their death after losing mega-bucks or having other bad experiences in Sin City or any other city.

There are a few select rooms on the top floor of Bally's that has balconies. Most of them face the pool/monorail but I do believe there might be a few the face the strip (or at least Paris).

There are a decent number of rooms at Bally's with balconies on every floor, but the doors are all sealed shut. At least they have been in my experience.

Yup, I am in one of them right now, a Junior Suite with 2 sealed up balconies and the filthiest windows I have ever seen.

The new Signature at MGM Grand offers many rooms with balconys. There are two of three towers completed at this condo/hotel property and the reviews on Trip Advisor are generally very good!

We stay at Bally's a few times a year and I would say about 1/2 the balcony doors have been unsealed/never sealed.
I know the last time (c. 1.5 years ago) that we had a balcony looking out on Flamingo the door opened fine.
YMMV

After close visual inspection (okay, from the street!) I can report that Bally's north tower does indeed have balconies on the upper floors. However, they don't appear wide enough for chairs, and as previously reported, they might be sealed.

OTOH, close visual inspection (okay, from the street!) of Caesars Palace indicates balconies on at least one wing with room views both to the north and south. As a central strip hotel with at least a reasonable reputation, this may be the place to plop your...self down on a balcony with a view of the Strip.

The Signature at MGM Grand rooms/suites all do have balconies and most have Strip (or partial Strip) views. Another reason for the no opening windows/doors policy could have something to do with the weather in LAS and air conditioning in hotels. Possibly, they don't want to have someone leave the windows open and the a/c blasting.

Or to prevent something worse...especially after a bad day in the casino

I'd like to take a long weekend in Vegas and would like a room with a balcony, if there is such an animal.

I've stayed at the Venetian and Mandalay Bay and neither had them.

I'd like to stay at the Venetian or Bellagio, if possible.

One of the nicer (and more affordable) options are the Terrace Suites at MGM Grand (http://www.mgmgrand.com/accommodations/terrace-suites.aspx).

Great outdoors. Step outside the Terrace Suites onto your very own patio for great views of the Strip. Inside, the 1,300-square-foot suites showcase soaring two-story vaulted ceilings. Designed for relaxed living, the large open space comfortably seats 4 for dinner. For convenience, there's a downstairs bathroom. Upstairs, the master bedroom opens into a large master bath with makeup vanity, his-and-her sink, a separate oversized tub and shower. But the true star of these spacious suites is the view of the great outdoors.

The Bellagio and Venetian also have patios/terraces in their Villas (not sure about any of the regular rooms/suites).

Negative at the Venetian regular rooms.

Also don't discount the Wynn, where every room has floor-to-ceiling windows. None of that messy traffic noise or Strip smells to ruin the view from behind the glass.

IIRC, all the king standard rooms face the Strip and all the queen/queen rooms face the golf course.
