Hertz - Ski Rack in DEN - 40 bucks/day - any coupons available for April '07??

Does anyone know of any coupons available for a ski rack in April 2007?

I was hoping to use the free day certs for a 4-day rental, but the ski rack is more per day than the actual car is (at that rate, I should just buy a ski rack & take it with me!). Anyone know of any ski rack coupons out there?

$40/day seemed absurd, so I had to look for myself. I expected that you were seeing one of those packages that bundles CDW with the rack. But no.

When I looked, it saw $40 for the ski rack for the entire 4 day rental period, not $40 per day. It actually seems to be $10/day, up to $40/week.

So look again.

The rest of the upcharge is from DEN's rental car taxes.

It looks like you're right about that - I guess I was misinterpretting the pricing.

Fo 4-day weekend, using 3 free day certs, it comes out to 123 bucks - which is still pretty steep - but what're you going to do?

Other options might be to skip the ski rack, depending on car class and how many folks in the party.

If you're solo, just recline the front pax seat and put the skis there. If you're two or even three, you could take the chance that your car has a rear seat fold-down or trunk pass-thru (most do), and put the skis there.

For 4 or more, you might find an SUV or minivan could fit everyone and their skis inside, and if you're only paying base rate for 1 day of the 4, that might come out cheaper.
