Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - How much in advance is it possible to book using BA miles?
I was interested in booking JFK - HKG in September, in Business or First, using my BA executive miles. It seems there is no availability throughout the month of September 2007. Maybe they haven't been released yet?
I was looking to go out Sept 23, and return Sept 28/29.

You're asking in the wrong forum - this is the forum for questions regarding AsiaMile. For BA Miles you need to ask in the BA forum.

CX award seats are very limited on the nonstop JFK-HKG route. The availability might be better on CX889 but even so, it is going to be tight. Try your options via other gateways ie LAX, and SFO.
Use the Qantas award booking tool and see the avalibility for yourself (you have to join QFF). I would say chances are you will have to do either go via somewhere like NRT(AA). Lots (relatively speaking) of avalibility on many AA long haul flights... I wonder why?;)
If you are keen on getting the seats on the direct/n.s. then you'll probably have to wait until 1-3 days before the flights.

I've been trying to do this for the pass 2 years. Your chance is next to none. As Guy Betsy said, CX award on this route is very limited. Asia miles member can WL for award ticket so they'll snap the free tickets before other FF partners (like BA). If you are willing to take the risk, CX usually release additional award tickets 1 week before travel. Even that, your chance of getting the direct flight is still close to zero for F/J (Y is better). The one with YVR connection is more like it.
BA one Partner Airline award, as its name suggested, only allows travel on one partner airline (unless using oneworld award which requires twice the miles). So flying AA to NRT then CX to HKG is not within one Partner Airline award. Similarly, flying BA via LHR requires 2.4x more miles than using one Partner Airline award. So shell out more miles if you want to ganranntee the trip but still near impossible if you want JFK-HKG direct.
