I'm a newly-minted Gold and have an upcoming trip planned for next weekend at the Knoxville TN Airport. I was wondering if they have an Exec floor and if the lounge is open on Friday nights. If not, no use wasting an upgrade, just opt for the 1,000 points.

Anyone know about this property? Is the Exec Level worth the extra money? I am just Silver and won't get the upgrade, unless I am lucky.

It is nothing great, not bad though... Just a simple Hilton at a small airport. Also there is nothing in the area...
If you have the time, stay at the Hilton downtown or at a Hampton Inn in an area called Turkey Creek. There is just more to do at either of those places and they are no more than 15 minutes from the airport.
If you go downtown, check out the old city area.
I spent 3 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn in Knoxville last month and it was terrific. The website photos don't do the rooms justice - this property exceeded my expectations in every way.
In fact, I had originally only booked for one night, planning on moving to another hotel and ended up extending my reservation.

Agreed, the airport in Knoxville is in the middle of nowhere. It's actually in another county. Last I knew, the restaurants in that town were dry. You can get a drink at the hotel, though. The lounge is O.K. for a bite of breakfast or a bit of finger food in the afternoon. The hostess took up the food on the strike of 7pm. Stragglers were disappointed.

The only reason to stay at the Hilton is if you have business in Maryville/Blount County or you are getting on a 6 am flight and want to return the car the night before. Its where I always stay because its my client's required property so I've got many nights under my belt.
Its the standard 70s "attached to the airport" hotel. Parking is a good hike from the front door (you are either wheeling up a hill and/or up stairs) - if you have bags you don't want to schlep, park by the front to check in and then go move your car. Executive staff is nice but as mentioned, the selections aren't enough to make a meal on (unless you are into light/sweet breakfasts). The restaurant downstairs is passible and there is usually some sporting event on the bar television - I try to escape to eat elsewhere whenever feasible instead.

Knoxville is not dry, you just can't buy booze in a grocery store, only beer.

Just stayed here for one night only (thank god!) Soundproofing sucks! Both from the outside the hotel and inside the corridor. Although as Gold VIP, they wouldn't put me on the Exec Floor just b/c I'm on a negotiated rate (AAA) How pathetic! The Exec Lounge is about the size of a guest room. During evening hours, they don't even put out sodas or water for grabs, you have to ASK the lone staff so she can get it from a vintage fridge. The sorriest Hilton I ever stayed-honestly. They should vaporize this place.
