Hertz - Redeem Award points on-line/phone for immediate use??

Even as a 5*, I've never redeemed points, but need to now for a last minute trip (1 day). Can this be done on the phone or do certs need to be mailed? I need to rent on Tuesday (funeral). :(

you can call the gold desk up and redeem points then and there, no certs need to be mailed... the points should deduct almost immediately.

It works! Thanks. Now I'm trying to find out from Hertz if I can transfer to a family member one of the "Earned Free Rental Day" certificates (PC#155046). I would think so and the T&C are relatively clear.

Hmm, the rep is saying that you can't book a car for someone else (other than spouse) with points or by giving them one of these certs. Anyone else want to comment on that with more experience? If I give my brother-in-law the paper cert, what are his chances of getting denied?

I have a 7hr layover in SEA later this week and wanted to kill some time playing tourist. I had 2500+ expiring points I needed to use-so I called Hertz yesterday and just burned 500 for a one day rental. :cool:
