I was wondering if it was possible to earn Worldperks EQMs on HA flights that are not interisland. I am looking at flying Hawaiian Airlines down to SYD and would obviously like to earn EQMs if possible.

Thanks.

Quick search on nwa.com will bring up the answer:
http://www.nwa.com/worldperks/earn/air_partner.shtml#hawaiian

The answer is yes, but be careful on what fare class you book.

And no, you don't get EQMs for any flights between Hawaii and the Continental US.

slippahs,
thanks, i noticed the fare classes listed are:

Elite Qualifying Fare Classes
Elite Qualifying Miles at 150%: P, F, J, C, Y, V
Elite Qualifying Miles at 100%: Q, B, S, X
Elite Qualifying Segments: P, F, J, C, Y, V (Q, B, S, X)

the ticket I am looking at is in the M fare class. This fare class doesn't appear to be listed as one that can or can not earn EQMs/EQS.

I know I should probably call Worldperks and ask if I can redeem miles for an upgrade to business class, but do you happen to know right off hand if that is possible?

If you look at the WP Partner information on the NW website, it specifically states that M class fares on Hawaiian are non-mileage earning flights. Last week I noticed they had a pretty good HNL-SYD fare, but it was M class so I passed. Can't see flying that far and not earning any miles.

Where exactly does it say that? It only says the following on the partner earning guide:
Miles not earned in the following classes
Inter-island: D, E, G, H, N, T, Z
Hawaii - South Pacific: D, E, H, K, T

I would take a look at your fare rules. If it says that M fares are not eligible (don't think they are), then it's a long shot. But you can always still try to send in your boarding passes into NW (with your WP number on the boarding pass) and wish for the best.

I called Worldperks and asked which fare classes earned elite qualifying miles. The lady said all fare classes except D,E,H,K, and O. She did not mention M. She said all other fare classes earn miles.

And we all know how reliable those phone agents are when it comes to stuff like this.

Did you get the agent's name?

Of course, her name was Irene. I called the platinum desk.

regards.

The only bad thing about this whole thing, is it looks like I will have to call HA to make sure I get a M-class fare. As I can not price out a M-class fare on their website manually for the return segment.

I just looked at this again. You are right. I really thought the fare I was looking at was M, but must have been mistaken.

I'll take their word over the average FlyerTalker's word. Not like they have a manual or the rules within an arm's reach if it's not already in their computers.

(No offense to the average FlyerTalkers out there ;))
