Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - OT: Short vacations from HKG

I must admit I've ran out of ideas. Been to all the usual places.

Does anyone have any suggestions of 3-5 day vacation spots this holiday season? Input is much appreciated!

I'll be off to Kota Kinabalu at some point in the near future - that's been waiting for when we could get Status Miles from the KA flight!

Not sure what those are (BKK/CEB, etc I assume). My favorite long weekends from HK have been in Cambodia and Vietnam. But as Christep notes, KA opens up a whole range of 'smaller' Chinese/SE Asian cities as well.

With 5 days though, I personally wouldn't hesitate to go a bit further afield such as India/ME/Australia.

Been to BKI, BKK, CEB etc.... as well as Vietnam. Have been wanting to go to Cambodia for a long time, but I can only plan 1 month ahead or less (way less!) and flights and hotels are pretty much full now around Christmas/New Year's.

Suggestions for some more unusual places
- Hainan Island (cold in winter)
- Burma / Myanmar (also not really warm, but lots to see)
- Krabi

what exactly do you want to do. tpe or jp could be a nice cultural break. N Oz could also be a good choice apart from the SEAsia beaches.
