I have a question about using the free non-peak weekend certs that PCs/5*s just had the opportunity to earn.

The certs require that you rent for a minimum of two days, but I really only need the car for a day. I am thinking of renting on a Saturday, stating that I will return on Sunday (more than 25 1/2 hours later, so it would be a 2 day rental), but actually returning the car late Saturday night. The location is closed on Sunday.

I realize I'd be throwing away a cert, but I know I will not have any other use for them so I'll be throwing them away anyway. Since the location is closed Sunday, does anyone see a problem with stating that I would return it on Sunday, writing down that I returned it on Sunday when I put it in the key drop, but actually dropping it off on Saturday night?

I have the same problem although I would turn the car in at a manned station - why, if we agree to use 2 certs would they not allow it?

Thanks,
Bob

No problem. In fact, under the new Hertz rules, they will mark it as having been returned when they reopen first thing Monday morning.

The earned certs for every 15 rentals should allow you to use them for 1-day rentals. The earned certs for every 3 rentals (the recent promo) are the ones that require a 2-day keep. If you rent for 25.5 hours, that should be 2 days & you should be okay, even if you return early...
