Checked in last night at a Westin. "Congratulations, we've upgraded you." Cool, I thought. Didn't ask what the upgrade was. A suite? Corner room? Great view? Well, as it turns out, I had a room next to the elevators and ice machine, on a low floor with a view of a building across a narrow street.
So what was my upgrade? Gym equipment. Yep. Glad Ms. 365 wasn't along. I don't think she'd have considered sweaty gym equipment particularly romantic. There were also some working out-books. And a year-old British cycling mag, apparently for sale for L5.99. ("What's that in dollahs, mate?")
In the end, it wasn't a terrible upgrade, since some of the equipment in the gym was broken.
And I can look back and laugh.
