Deperately looking for somewhere to stay in Tahiti before a 10-night Tahitian Princess cruise. Most preferably reasonably close to the ports of the ferry. ANY sort of pension or place that offers a romantic canopy bed or at least a full mosquito net over the bed!!! Also, if find an overwater bungalow with the same bed under $250/night, BETTER!!! I have done a LOT of research but don't seem to find my perfect room =( it's hard to find in Papeete and in Moorea I can't really find an inexpensive place with these specifications. HELP!! (it's for my honeymoon so that special bed is of importance to me...)
Oh by the way time of the year would be around either March 30 or June...whichever is better value!!! =p

I don't think you're going to be happy on Tahiti. There are a number of nice motels and bed/breakfasts on Moorea in the $150/nite range.
Have you looked at tripadviser.com?

Could you please mention them! The thing is on tripadvisor they don't show if the ones available have the canopy bed or not...
Also, on my research, I maybe found some but didn't know because most of these pensions' websites are in French! I only know Spanish and English! *shrugs*

I don't know who has a canopy bed, only that there are very nice accommodations in your price range. You'll find them on tripadviser, in any current guidebook or on other Moorea-related sites and can email to inquire regarding your specifics. All of the sites I've seen are in English, and the people there can definitely communicate via email in English as well.

before you go on your cruise ..
YOU DONT WANT TO STAY ON TAHITI AT ALL.......
UNLESS IT IS ONLY FOR ONE NIGHT.
IF ITS MORE THAN ONE NIGHT GO OVER TO MOOREA.
BUT YOU WONT FIND AN OVER THE WATER BUNGALOW ANYWHERE IN FRENCH POLYNESIA FOR UNDER 450.00 A NIGHT
AND THE KIND OF CANOPY BED YOU WANT I HAVE ONLY SEEN IN BALI.......
ALL BIG HOTELS WITH OVER THE WATER BUNGALOWS SPRAY FOR MOSQUITOS AND NEVER HAVE MOSQUITO NETS.......
GO BUY: MOON PUBLISHING TAHITI GUIDE BOOK BY DAVID STANLEY
TO CHECK OUT PLACES ON MOOREA IF YOU CANT AFFORD THE SHERATON ON MOOREA CHECK OUT CHEZ NANI OF FARE FAIMANO
I HAVE LIVED IN TAHITI ON MOOREA FOR 19 YEARS TRUST ME
PRINCESS SHOULD SET UP WITH A ROOM AT THE SHERATON OR INTERCONTENTIAL IN TAHITI FOR THE NIGHT BEFORE THE CRUISE
THEY SHOULD GET YOU A DISCOUNTED RATE.
THESE ARE THE ONLY PLACES YOU WANT TO STAY ON TAHITI
WHEN YOU CHECK IN TELL THEM YOU ARE ON YOUR HOMEYMOON AND
ASK FOR A FREE UPGRADE TO AN OVER THE WATER BUNGALOW
THEY SHOULD GIVE IT TO YOU IF THE RECEPTIONIST SAYS NO
ASK FOR THE GUEST RELATIONS MANAGER
ALSO FOOD AT ANY HOTEL IS OUTRAGEOUS LIKE 16.00 FOR A CHEESE BURGER BY THE POOL 5.00 FOR A COKE ETC
OVER 150.00 FOR DINNER EASY WITH OUT DRINKS :(
BUT ON TAHITI TAKE THE LE TRUCK TO THE WARF IN TOWN WHERE THE CRUISE SHIPS COME IN LOTS OF GREAT FOOD TRUCKS AND MUSIC VERY COOL LOCAL PLACE TO EAT AT 1/5 THE COST OF A HOTEL
IR YOU GUYS DRINK BUY WHAT YOU WANT AT THE DUTY FREE

Why the hotel "Should" Give you a free upgrade. Half of the people are on their honeymoon there.
The CLUB BALI HAI MOOREA has over water bugalow for 200-250. and some of them have a kitchen i think gerat way to save on food.
I suggest you bring you own alcohol, if you going to stay in tahiti. The ferry from Tahiti to moorea cost 9 dollars per person, and hotel can setup transportation to the ferry. Or just ask one of the bus, they will take you if they are taking other people on the same way.
Amiga Boricua: For your luna de miel, inexpensive (the term is relative in French Polynesia) would be on Moorea at
Hotel Les Tipaniers (http://www.lestipaniers.com) (Moorea) (affiliated with Scubapiti Centre de Plongée)
("tipaniers" are frangipani, or Plumeria)

They have their own dive op, are very friendly and a nice spot on the northwest side of Moorea, easy to get to (well, the road goes around the island, so you literally can't miss it!) About 16 bungalows iirc, so not huge and impersonal.
Take the comfortable and fast Aremiti ferry (25 minutes) from Papeete, rent a car from Europcar at the Vaiare end, and Bob's your uncle (actually, I'd arrange the car on the Internet in advance.) Practically across the street from Les Tipaniers are a rental car (the other Europcar on the island, a petrol station, an ATM, shops,) and nearby is a motu (island,) some nice places for art. If you don't want a car, "Le Truck" (the local version of la guagua) departs / returns for ferries.
If you search online, avoid Residence Linareva - used to be nice, is now a roach-infested dump. My sis made a booking here a year ago, and fled after an awful night to the Tipaniers, where no mozzie net was necessary, even in the rainy season.
They have a Les Tipaniers II, I don't know it and one time we stayed nearby during the rains (Dec on) it was majorly buggy in the bays area. Dry season it should be OK.
JDiver, would you still recommend Les Tipaniers today? Nice post, btw. Great info.
