Flying for first time TUS-JFK. Is there snack or food service on the red-eye? Breakfast? Charge for food and wine (like the legacies) or complimentary? What about the return (leaves JFK 7 PM). If there isn't anything good served any recs for stores in T6 to carry onto the flight? What is the entertainment system like?

From reading other posts, you can change flights for $25+ fare difference, or for simply for $25 if you change on the calendar day you are flying as long as space is available on the other date you want to change to, is this correct?

Snacks = Chips, cookies and the like at the beginning of the redeye. Nothing else resembling food. Wine and beer are 5 bucks. For your return trip, the same thing, except probably will be served snacks twice rather than just once. T6 has a nice range of food post-security, including a sushi place which is pretty good.

The "entertainment system" is 36 channels of DirectTV, along with a choice of 3 movies (movies cost 5 bucks to watch, and you can only watch one of them per flight). Bring your own headphones as they will be infinitely better than the free ones they hand out. Any standard jack earphones work. I use my iPod headset. Except the tv to go in and out, although usually this only happens during takeoff, landing, and moments of extreme turbulence. Its generally a stable system, and since its free, you can't really complain too much.

There's a $25 change fee (online...if by phone, it's $30) plus fare difference to change your existing flight to any other flight in the system (change of day, time, city pair, routing, etc...) The $25 fee without the fare difference that you've heard about refers to same day standby changes, which is only applicable to other flights between the same cities on the same day. Unfortunatly, IIRC, there's only 1 flight per day to and from Tucson, so this option doesn't apply, as there aren't any other flights that same day to standby on.

I recommend bringing your own headsets as well for better enjoyment. Although the free ones are ok. Also, you can purchase somewhat better ones at the gate for just $1.

In addition, you will enjoy the "ShutEye" kit by Bliss on the redeye. This includes an eye shade, ear plugs, creams, mint, etc....all for free! If you are lucky, there is a small chance that you will be on one of the updated A320's with 100 channels of FREE XM Sat. Radio installed. It is a small chance, because they are in the process of updating the entire fleet as we speak. Either way, you'll enjoy the 36 channels of live TV, 3 movies ($5), channel 13 with the map and the friendly smiles you'll receive from the crew.

Bring along a sandwich or two...you'll enjoy the free variety of unlimited snacks in addition.

Thanks to the three above posters for the information, I am new to JetBlue and this is very useful.

I already have my own headset; the tips about food are useful (I love sushi).

With only one flight TUS-JFK, if I need to change my return from Sun Dec 3 to Mon Dec 4 I will wind up paying the change fee plus the fare difference no matter what, even if I do the change on the 3rd?

How quickly do JetBlue's fares go up as you get closer to the date of travel, I was lucky enough to get $99 both ways but might want to return on Monday rather than Sunday?

Personally I think the sushi in terminal 6 sucks. Plus why would you risk getting sick, it happendd to me once.

Correct. The only way you could change a flight without paying the fare difference is if it was done on the same day as the scheduled flight, and you're changing to another flight on that same day between the same cities where there's space available. Source: jetBlue Help (http://help.jetblue.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/webisapi.dll/,/?St=76,E=0000000000006638169,K=2863,Sxi=15,Case=ob j(380155)#s1)

In terms of fares, it really depends on the loads for that particular flight. Currently, JFK-->TUS is showing up as $99 for your date of travel, as well as the day afterwards, so if you know for sure that you're going to end up changing it, it would probably be good to do that now while the prices are still low (due to the current sale, I believe, that scheduled to end 12AM on Sat.). Getting closer to the date of travel, fares generally go up (looking at today, tomorrow and Sat., for example, the fares are all $224 one way). However, if it is necessary to change it at the last minute, I've heard that if the fare increase is over $100, JetBlue will waive the fare change fee - it's only $25, but it still helps.

I guess that take-out Chinese food stand in Delta's JFK terminal (2 or 3?) is better in quality!

dinosims, thanks for the link and the advice- I couldn't find it on jetblue.com the first time around for some reason. There's no college basketball on direct TV so I will just read!

One question- it says for once a day flights (like JFK-TUS) you can stand by without charge the day before? If this is true, I should have booked my return JFK-TUS on Monday the 4th and then (assuming space is still available) tried to standby for Sunday the 3rd (which I am currently booked for) if I still needed to come back to TUS. Oh well, it's not a big deal but I'll know for next time.
