Thought I'd share my news on this story.
I always wanted to do Concorde and now with the Starwood deal am able to do so. I wanted to travel at the end of May. This is difficult because the rules say that you cannot book travel until the points are in the account - which can take up to four weeks. I was concerned that if I needed to wait four weeks the availability would not be there when I needed it. I origianlly called QF in MEL and asked if I give them proof that the point transfer has been initiated will they allow ther booking and of course hold off ticketing until points arrive? The answer was No but call the U.S. office when they are open and they may do it.
So I call the TUS office for QF and ask the agent and she automatically answered no - I mentioned the instructions I received from the MEL office and she said let me ask the supervisor. 5 minutes later I had my seats!! They also said it was not necessary to send in the proof of transfer. EXCELLENT!
Speaking of the transfer - I callled *wood and got the Ireland office and spoke with Moustaphe. He said he had been doing this a couple of times already that day! (all FT'ers I'm sure) He said the easiest way to do it is that he would transfer the 20k that afternoon and then do the 32500 the next day without me having to call back. I asked if he could provide me with a fax or e-mail that I could use as proof with QF (see above) and he said no problem and I received the fax the next day!
All in all a very pleasant FF experience. Thanks to whoever pointed out this award possibility.
For the record I am flying BA 296 ORD - LHR on May 31 returning BA 1 LHR -JFK on June 2. Wanted to the subsonic over to enjoy that.
