Hi All,
I'm planning a trip to Vegas and wanted to get your input on the Aladdin hotel. Last year, I stayed at TheHotel and the property was amazing. As a Starwood Platinum member, I wanted to know if it's worth the effort to book a room at the Aladdin and hope for an upgrade or if I should stay at TheHotel instead.

I'm very picky about hotels and like a place that's clean with decent bedding - not that multicolored motel room crap.

What would you guys recommend? If Aladdin is not worth it, what other hotels besides TheHotel would you recommend?

Also, for the SPG members, what are your upgrade successes?

Thank you.

You're comparing two VERY different hotels there. If THE hotel is your style, you're not going to be happy with anything that Aladdin will offer you.

Same level as THE, I'd stay at the Wynn, much bigger room too.

You should read the Aladdin Master Thread on the Starwood forum for MORE information than you could possibly want!

I'm 100% on upgrades to a Resort Room as a Starwood Gold in the 18 months or so (five stays, I believe). Plats seem to always get upgraded as well (to a higher class of room than the Resort). So I don't think you have to worry about "hoping" for an upgrade; you'll get one.

Keep in mind two things. Although the rooms are nice and have a lot of space, they're pretty sparse compared to the 5 stars on the Strip. Never stayed at TheHotel, but Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn are nicer in terms or quality/amenities.

Also, lots of casino construction underway right now that may or may not bother you.

Last stay at the Aladdin gave us a fantastic upgrade, but the bed was definitely NOT up to par with TheHotel or others on the strip. It's been over a year since our stay, maybe SPG has improved the bedding; perhaps you should check the master thread in the SPG forum. The bed was worse than most motel beds when we were there: hard, with lumpy, old synthetic pillows and those nasty bedspreads. The suite was nowhere near as nice as TheHotel basic suites. You have been spoiled by TheHotel ;) .

The Hotel @ Mandalay for sure. Dont even think twice.
Aladdin never came close to meeting expectations
since it was built. Has this property ever seen black ink
while the rest of the new casinos have done well ?
