JetBlue TrueBlue - Unable to get seat assignment online?

Hi...
Im flying DEN-JFK-FLL in a couple of days...for the DEN-JFK segment, the online system allowed me to pick out a seat, however, for the JFK-FLL segment, I continually get this message online:
"This flight is filling up quickly. The system will automatically assign you seats. "
Why is this happening/when will I be able to get an assignment for that flight?...it won't even tell me what the system-assigned seat is for that segment?
Thanks,

Don't worry...I have seen that message a few times (usually on last minute or peak travel day bookings) and I always get a seat...even an aisle, first choice or window, secocnd choice. Very rarely did I get a middle seat (maybe one in my life on jetBlue.)
If you call jetBlue they might be able to assign you a seat - if not ask them to please document your reservation requesting a specific seat (aisle for example) so the airport crew will know where to seat you.
JetBlue does NOT overbook flights 99.999% of the time so you're pretty much guaranteed a seat. They do block out about 24 seats on an A320 for airport-only assignment so you might end up with one of those.

Like the last poster said, it means that, although the plane is not overbooked, the 'pre-assignable' seats are all taken. Several rows of seats are not assignable except at check-in, and so if you are amongst the last dozen or so to purchase a ticket, you are left without an assigned seat until check-in (though there is space for you on the plane). This means, with luck and an early check-in, you'll get bulkhead or an exit row that has not been preassigned, or you'll end up in another random seat that has been vacated by an earlier booking.
Incidentally, this also happens on other airlines, but under somewhat different circumstances: Other airlines set aside some 'premium economy' seats for frequent flyers and/or people who've paid a lot for their tickets. If you booked a seat at a decent price in a mostly full plane, you are not entitled to those special seats (and least not at time of booking), and so you remain seatless until regular seats become available, or the airline decides to put you in a upgraded economy seat. This is happening to me with my Thanksgiving tickets on United this year.

Or call every now and then to see if anything has opened up. As people change travel plans, their seats open up.

Or try online check-in. Best case scenario: Seat(s) open up and you can pick them from the comfort of home, and not get to the airport early. Worst case scenario: You've checked in for a lame seat you don't like, and you can still try to change it when you get to the airport, earlier if you think it'd help your chances.

Well, maybe. I'm pretty sure the seats that JetBlue doesn't let people pick (first 3 rows, 12DEF, 26DEF) are also ones that are only assignable at the airport. IIRC, twice (or so) when I wasn't able to get a seat assignment while booking, I wasn't able to check in online, nor at a kiosk, and was forced to see a check-in agent to get a seat (it then turned out to be an exit row, aisle seat, so I pretty happy with how it all turned out). The only way you'd be able to check in online is if someone with a seat switched flights or cancelled, and that assignable seat was now open.
