MilesBuzz! - Decisions, Decisions. Cash Out MyPoints for UAL of HHonors?

Well, I finally made it to the point where I can cash out of MyPoints--thanks in large part to getting their Visa (5000 points for first use) and PeoplePC (5000 points for $4.97).

I had my eye on cashing them in for UA miles but now as I get ready to pull the trigger the Hhonors points are looking more appealing then they did before. How would you compare the value of each?

Assuming you mean "value," it is entirely dependent on HOW you redeem them.

How do YOU make use of UA miles vs. HHonors points? And how much value does that equate to? That's what really matters. @:-)

Actually, I have no immediate plans to use either--just stockpiling. Trying to decide based purely on future value of some yet to be defined vacation. Assume the median vacation, whatever your definition is.

It is generally more difficult to transfer miles into United than Hilton if that is a consideration. AMEX and DC permit you to do this, but neither allows transfers into United. Also, E-Rewards into Hilton but not United.

So, if you can do any of the above, you may wish to choose United.

I had the same question some time ago, and after reading posts of people who had waited months for UAL miles to post, I went with Hilton.

My Points is always a hassle for me. Points never post, and they cancelled my mothers account as they said she was not a real person!!!
