Travel Technology - What AC Adapter do I need given these numbers?
Hey folks,
I'm thinking of bringing my Aerobed portable with rechargable pump to Italy with me.
The AC Adapter says this:
Input: 120VAC 60Hz 60mA
Output: 12VDC 150mA
Would this adapter (http://www.cobyusa.com/product/item.php?item=CA44&pcat=avacc&pscat=adapter&pscat2=) do the trick?
It says this:
# Input: 110/220V Dual Voltage
# Power: 18Watt
# Output: 1.5, 3,4.5, 6, 7.5, 9, 12V DC
# Current: 1000mA max
Ok, so the 12V matches - but amps is 1000 instead.
Is that ok?

The Coby has higher capacity than you need, so it should be OK....if the connector is right, and if you have the polarity switch set correctly.

Test it before you leave. If it works here, it will work over there.
As the previous poster said, be careful of the connector (plug) and polarity (+/-). There will be a switch on the adaptor, or perhaps the way the plug fits in the adaptor that will set the polarity.
And don't forget an adaptor plug (flat US style to round euro style). You can get these all over in Italy if you forget, but easier to get here.
I'm a bit surprised by the 150mA output on your stock adapter..
12v and 150mA ~= 1.8 watt. Kinda low for a pump... but it can still work.
Just make sure its correct.
given that.. the coby adapter (link you've sent).. can give out
upto 12watts of output power at 12 volts DC
and if the pins are correct, you should be fine.

Using a power supply that offers extra current (1000 ma) is just fine. The load (the pump) will only draw the current that it needs.
But don't ever use more voltage than the load (the pump) is rated at.

It's a (very slow) charging pump and a very small mattress.
You use the pump for the 60 seconds it takes to inflate this mattress, and then you spend the next 8 hours recharging it.
Thanks everyone!
