I have to make an early meeting in Northern Illinois. Can I expect any traffic if I land in Milwaukee at 8 a.m. on a weekday and head south to Waukegan?

Can I expect any traffic if I land in Milwaukee at 8 a.m. on a weekday and head south to Waukegan? dhuey Nov 9, 06, 12:50 pm You'll quickly get a more authoritative answer from the locals. Based on my experience of driving that route, it is rare for traffic to be slow that far north of Chicago. Forget to mention: watch your speed. I've been amazed at how many WI state troopers patrol I-94 in that stretch. MKEbound Nov 9, 06, 10:14 pm MKE is on the south side of Milwaukee, and you will be able to travel at full speeds to the IL border - little to no traffic going south. Waukegan is the first exit past the state line. 45 minutes at the most. dhuey Nov 9, 06, 10:25 pm By the way, welcome to FlyerTalk, btfraw! Sweet Willie Nov 10, 06, 5:25 pm welcome to Flyertalk btfraw ^ :) I'm local and here are my thoughts. Currently there is construction in IL on tollway I-294 just south of the WI stateline, that slows things down and there is also a toll plaza so even when the construction is finished and locals will use the open road tolling option, it still will get backed up during rush hour. Also, many trucks and cars in an effort to not pay the toll if going southbound will kick off to HWY 41 making this congested. During NO traffic your trip plan should be 45 minutes to play it safe but I would plan at least an hour due to the time of day and I don't know where you are going in Waukegan. -- |
