That's the question!
On the flight map BOS-SJU shows as a daily nonstop service starting December 13, 2006. However, according to the schedule there will be no non-stop! So what's it gonna be???

When I go to book flights, I see the nonstop BOS-SJU loaded. What were you looking at???

It may not have been updated yet. The BOS-SJU-BOS nonstop flights are definitely loaded in the booking/reservation system.

Probably because that is the start of President's Week and many schools are closed. Therefore, the flights sell out early.

I noted a month ago that B6 was selling BOS-SJU (non-stop) for about $750 but I thought the fare was kinda hefty...

Addendum: I looks like there is some availabilty on sunday instead of saturday... Still pricey at $741.

The pdf timetable usually only shows the schedule for the current month. When I need schedules further out, I always go to "Book a Flight" to see what's there.

You're not going to find $79/$99 sale fares or even just ok fares of ~$169 o/w during such peak travel times. I'll agree that $741 is up there in price...but what cheaper way is there to get from BOS to SJU on the dates you want/need? Also, keep in mind that air travel is significantly cheaper than it was 5+ years ago. Fares of $1,200+ r/t in coach were the norm even for advance purchase when demand was high.

I agree, a fare of $700+ is reasonable when compared to other airlines (AA, US >$1000). However, you also have to understand that wages have not kept up with inflation over the last decade. Fares maybe significantly lower today than 5+ years ago, but the paycheck did not increase much either!
Take FAs for example: are they better off now than 5+ years ago?

100% agreed. What you mention is ONE of MANY examples of what makes the airline industry one crazy area of the business world.
Although air travel is often made fun of by comedians and all, and yes - most airlines for the average Joe it is a flying bus - it is still the cheapest, fastest and most affordable (in most cases) way to get to your destination.
Just take a look at airfares 8 years ago...today's walk-up o/w fare of $399 for JFK-OAK/LGB was an average fare back then. Fares in coach were $2,500 or more sometimes for a similar JFK-LAX/SFO flight. So, you don't get a "meal" today - but was that crappy meal really worth hundreds or in some cases thousands of dollars!?!? Bring your own meal that will cost you a few bucks and be happy.
In conclusion, fares in the airline industry have definitely not kept up with the rate of inflation. Fares are MUCH MUCH lower than they were years ago...so a 15% year-over-year increase is not so terrible, especially considering this is the first time since 8 years ago that fares have increased!

I guess I should forget about going to Puerto Rico...

You may want to price two separate tickets to SJU connecting at JFK - BOS-JFK and JFK-SJU. Since school vacation week is pushing the demand (and prices) up in BOS in Feb, you may be able to find reasonably priced tickets to SJU out of JFK. Since NYC is not a typical school vacation destination, the fares to JFK may not be sky high either.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am not going to SJU. Perhaps to AUS instead...
