Try disabling some extensions, those are usually the culprit. doc Nov 7, 06, 8:53 am Nor have I, but I rarely, if ever use it! LOL! I prefer IE7 as noted here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=614680&page=1&highlight=ie7 MileageAddict Nov 7, 06, 9:04 am Not once. Try disabling some extensions, those are usually the culprit. My only extension is AdBlockPlus. (Scott, nice to meet you in DC last week!) biggestbopper Nov 7, 06, 9:11 am No problems. And, I have been using it since it became available. ^ redbeard911 Nov 7, 06, 10:33 am No problems. And, I have been using it since it became available. ^Me too. FireFox rocks. ^ Most of my extensions are now updated. Loren Pechtel Nov 7, 06, 10:34 am Two incidents of being nonresponsive but no crashes. When I force it closed the next time it asks if I want to restore my session--and if I say yes it puts back most everything--including in both cases the message I was entering when it went into la-la land. Droneklax Nov 7, 06, 10:36 am Firefox 2.0 sucks on an intel Mac. Can't see videos (no YouTube), and some sites just flat out won't load. :td: osamede Nov 7, 06, 11:01 am Firefox 2.0 crashed on me a few times and worse still took up 100% of CPU usage, effectively freezing my machine. I cannot believe they released it in this state. It is not ready for prime time and I cannot even consider using it until they identify and sort out the problem. cpx Nov 7, 06, 11:03 am nope.... never had an issue... I use it on XP Pro, 2000 & Linux. whats your OS? Morrissey Nov 7, 06, 11:04 am Nor have I, but I rarely, if ever use it! LOL! I prefer IE7 as noted here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=614680&page=1&highlight=ie7 That was very helpful. windwalker Nov 7, 06, 11:12 am crashes about once a week on me, same as 1.5 did. which is less than IE did Jaimito Cartero Nov 7, 06, 11:18 am No problems so far. I had to remove a couple of extensions since they were annoying, but nothing more. (New extensions, I had just installed with the 2.0 upgrade). I like the spell check one. Eye can spill now! bobes Nov 7, 06, 11:38 am fine for me on 2.0 it's your adblock.... upgrade it to the latest... as google firefox crash... also check this out (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_crashes), I used it to fix up my crashes on 1.5 DeafFlyer Nov 7, 06, 2:30 pm Yes, it freezes up my PC once in a while. That hadn't happened to me in years. I only have one extension. (IEView) slippahs Nov 7, 06, 3:21 pm No crashes here. Didn't even realize that FF crashed... :o a330marcus Nov 7, 06, 3:42 pm Firefox2.0 works better than IE7 for me. One problem I found: Firefox doesn't display the www.usairways.com site properly -- all the fonts are too large (probably just a setting somewhere)... cpx Nov 7, 06, 3:47 pm Firefox2.0 works better than IE7 for me. One problem I found: Firefox doesn't display the www.usairways.com site properly -- all the fonts are too large (probably just a setting somewhere)... I would think the problem is with the site.. not FF. :) Coathanger Nov 7, 06, 8:25 pm I've been pretty pleased with FF2 performance, haven't had it hang on me yet whilst running it on XP. I quite like the updated interface and speed compared to IE7. The only reason IE is still on my computer is Windows Update. a330marcus Nov 8, 06, 9:14 am I would think the problem is with the site.. not FF. :) IE7 displays the site properly though... but granted, usairways.com has been in "constantly improving" mode for a while now due to the merger... RichMSN Nov 8, 06, 9:35 am I've been pretty pleased with FF2 performance, haven't had it hang on me yet whilst running it on XP. I quite like the updated interface and speed compared to IE7. The only reason IE is still on my computer is Windows Update. Mine crashes frequently -- so much so I am still on 1.5 on one of my two Windows machines. I'll clear the extensions, though, and see if that helps. cpx Nov 8, 06, 9:42 am IE7 displays the site properly though... but granted, usairways.com has been in "constantly improving" mode for a while now due to the merger... Because MS tends to depart from the standards very often.. and if the site was made using MS tools.. without checking the compliance with the W3 standards, the site could look different on other browsers.. but look okay on IE. Its USAir's job to make sure the site works well with all browsers. winkydink Nov 8, 06, 10:06 am I've been having some problems with the newest version of Firefox. Is it just me of has anyone else had it crash as well? No crashes for me since very early alpha on Windows, Mac or Linux. winkydink Nov 8, 06, 10:08 am Firefox 2.0 sucks on an intel Mac. Can't see videos (no YouTube), and some sites just flat out won't load. :td: Having just gone to YouTube and viewed a video using an Intel iMac, I can tell you that the problem is not your Mac. ClueByFour Nov 8, 06, 10:46 am I actually have fewer (read: none) crashed in 2.0, whereas I'd get the occasional crash in 1.5.x. On wintel. alanh Nov 8, 06, 11:52 am FF 2.0 is very stable for me under WinXP. I have a dual CPU PC, and 1.5 was prone to frequent crashes unless it was bound to one CPU. sllevin Nov 8, 06, 4:15 pm I haven't had crashes, but, OTOH, there are definitely things I'm not thrilled about in FF 2.0 (like on FT, if I hover over a partial/abbreviated topic, it pops up what the entire text is). If you are happy with FF1.5, I'd strongly advise just using it for now. If you have issues with some sites you visit, then give upgrading a try. Steve YVR Cockroach Nov 8, 06, 5:14 pm Crashes somewhat frequentlyif I have a lot of tabs open. Then again, the XP system only has 128MB RAM available (MIN/MAX). Doesn't crash but very slow on a G3 iMac OS 10.4. DCAKen Nov 9, 06, 10:08 am I've been noticing an occasional problem with FF 2.0 where the first browser window I open will always be on top. If I click on a link that opens another browser window, I cannot bring the second window to the front. If I minimize the first window then maximize it, I can bring other windows in front of it. bobes Nov 9, 06, 10:29 am I've been noticing an occasional problem with FF 2.0 where the first browser window I open will always be on top. Not yet. So far it's as good as or better than v1.5. ^ I've not installed Internet Exploder 7 yet... DCAKen Nov 10, 06, 6:44 pm Try new pages should be opened in a new tab in preferences and see if that helps. However, this wouldn't be a solution for the windows opened by Javascript (the calendar windows on American Airlines, for example) BogeyMan Nov 10, 06, 8:00 pm I have not had any crashes w v2.0 but did with v1.5. Scifience Nov 10, 06, 8:57 pm I haven't had any crashes yet with 2.0. I have, however, noticed a weird issue with the little information bar (or whatever you call it, the thing that tells you when a pop-up was blocked or when a site needs a plugin) being half cut off. It isn't just one install, either; I've noticed this issue on three computers now. Savage25 Nov 10, 06, 10:42 pm Bah...my Firefox 2.0 crashed for the first time today. I was doing a Bulk [Empty] in my Yahoo mail when it happened. Cool "restore session" functionality though ^ Savage25 Nov 19, 06, 5:48 pm Firefox 2.0 has crashed 3 or 4 times for me now. On all occasions I have had Yahoo Mail open in one of the tabs. Seems like the two do not get along. JeremyG5 Nov 19, 06, 9:51 pm It happens on occasion, but it works pretty well. michaelr Nov 19, 06, 11:48 pm I've been having some problems with the newest version of Firefox. Is it just me of has anyone else had it crash as well? I have not read the entire thread but initially 2.0 crashed every 5 minutes, now it doesn't anymore. Weird. Buster Nov 27, 06, 7:22 pm I'm crashing a lot with it. I only have 1 extension, GreaseMonkey. I find that if I use "restore session" that pretty much guarantees that I'll continue crashing. I'm thinking of going back to an older, more stable version. murphy Nov 28, 06, 7:42 am I'm crashing a lot with it. I only have 1 extension, GreaseMonkey. What scripts are you running with greasemonkey? GM is very cool, but a poorly written script can really hose your browser. GadgetFreak Nov 28, 06, 6:53 pm Ive had tons of crashes (maybe 5 tonight) and lots of freezes. |
