Hi there

I'm going to post this in the OW forum as well, but was wondering if anyone could help me with a little problem I have in planning a trip next year (you might also see a similar thread in the Air NZ forum)

I'm sorting out an itinerary for a Circle Pacific fare, and am stumbling on the final stretch.

Basically I'm going HKG - AKL - SYD - HNL - HKG, but the problem is the HNL - HKG leg. Apparently OW don't have a carrier that can do the HNL - NRT transit - HKG leg, so the Cathay agent was telling me that we would need to fly from HNL to LAX (5 hours), then to NRT (11hours), then to HKG.

Is this right? Is there no other way I can fly from HNL to HKG and still stay on a Circle Pacific fare?

If there's any more info you need, please let me know.

Thanks!
NKHK

Depending on when next year you plan on doing this trip, JL will be a part of oneworld. Once they become a part of oneworld, you can fly JL from HNL to NRT and then connect with CX or stay with JL on to HKG.

Wow - that was quick!

We would be doing the HNL - HKG at the end of April 2007. When does JAL come onboard?

I don't understand why you would need to touch NRT - what's wrong with HNL-SFO/LAX-HKG?

We will be at a wedding in HNL on 27 April, and need to get back to HKG fairly quickly after that. The Cathay lady told me that we had to go HNL - LAX - NRT - HKG. Or did I hear her wrong and she really meant to say HNL - LAX - HKG? The flying time seems to be considerably longer via LAX, and given that we don't want to stay the night there, I thought HNL - NRT transit - HKG would be considerably quicker?

It would be - but until JAL is allowed on the ticket (which I fear will be too late for you) it isn't an option, so HNL-LAX/SFO-HKG is going to be quicker than stopping also in NRT.

Gotcha - thanks for the clarification!

Er, excuse me, Mr Moderator, Sir, but would you like to reconsider that statement? That route doesn't appear to go round the world.

oh sorry.... the "OLD" Global Explorer ticket did not need to go RTW. ...

So it's back to the Circle Pacific Route...then.

Thx for pointing that out...

I did a Global Explorer abeit 7 years ago... that didn't go round the world.
