I don't have a MP account, but have my PNR. Where can I access my reservation details online? Also, I was given a 5-character PNR -- does that sound right?

The short answer is no. The 5-character PNR is correct for CX's own system.

Thanks for your answer and for the link. I followed the link and found out all about CX PNRs...

If you booked your (paid) ticket through CX.com, you can still retreive your booking online even without a MP account, provided you created a login name and password on CX.com when you bought your ticket (I think that's required if you don't have an MP account). It's not easy to retreive it; I know, I tried yesterday. But it can be done.
Go to CX.com and roll over the "Manage Your Trip" bar on the left, then click on the "Retreive Your Booking" button. That will take you to a screen that allows you to punch in either an MP number and PIN or your login ID and password. Enter your login ID, and your booking will appear. It's pretty limited functionality after that point, though. I couldn't see how to check seat assignments or anything.

MP=Mileage Plus?
Just ask CX where you booked your res to fax details to you instead. That is if you have a fax machine.

MP = Marco Polo (CX's mileage program)
It's not the itinerary I need. I was hoping to be able to choose/change seats, etc. -- more than just look at it.

Sorry to resurrect this one, but I didn't see an answer here or through Search.
So ... is there anywhere online that you can see/retrieve/change CX seat assignments for bookings done through a TA?
Never thought I would step back and say I appreciate the functionality of aa.com :p

No. Your TA is the only person who can do all of the above - including seat changes prior to departure.
You can view your reservations booked through any other source ONLY if you have put in an ASIAMILES/MPC number on cathaypacific.com, but you can't do any changes to it... Except do advance on-line check in, by which you can change your seat during the process but once only.
