I'm curious about the situation regarding security wait times, procedures, etc. now that the EU plus several other european countries have introduced the new restrictions on liquids.
Post your experiences here. Thank you.
Landing at Gatwick this morning, the greeter who came on the plane announced that she wanted to remind people of the new security restrictions and then recited the old ones! (Just gotta love////hate it.)
The Executive Lounge at the Gatwick Hilton got it right and was giving everyone the new flyer.

Here are photos of bags I picked up at DUS this morning, they don't conform with the EU regulations :-) I put a liter of water into them and there is still air left when closed.

In Tuesday's issue of the free French newspaper Metro, they had a small article about teams of staff at CDG working to explain the situation to passengers, and complaining they were getting insulted. They quoted someone who had a box of liquor-stuffed chocolate confiscated because they were "liquid containers" not carried in a trasparent plastic bag...

"Don't we all know by now how dangerous chocolates are to our health security?"
Pitiful that this is the kind of nonsense we endure because of EU-wide harmonization of idiocy.

Oh my, what are they thinking, our security is at stake: the Spanish authorities decided to accept "ensaimada de Majorque" in carry-on luggage, because they can't possibly distinguish between the solid sugar variety of that cake from the wicked variety stuffed with pumpkin jello (which is as everyone know a terrorist threat, being halfway liquid).
Source, unfortunately in French (http://fr.news.yahoo.com/08112006/202/securite-dans-les-avions-la-tarte-de-majorque-autorisee-de.html) . Keep your eyes open from more EU-sponsored nonsense to come.
Morning radio said queues were building up at LGW and STN departures with LHR reasonably OK.
I'll find out about STN early on Friday. :(

Why shouldn't they be getting insulted?
It's insulting to be told that this idiocy adds anything to safety or is anything other than harassment.
They should be happy they weren't assaulted instead of merely insulted. :D
Flew out of CDG without problems. No lines at security. Clear plastic bag with toiletries was inside carry on and it passed through x-ray without raising an eyebrow. I left from 2F in the afternoon.

Were you allowed one carryon or one carryon + one personal item?
The AA website is trying to imply only one, but the AF website implies the number of pieces hasn't changed.

I was allowed 2 items (carryon + personal item) but flew AF.
Yesterday there were signs about the new policy at FCO. They even had a special note (in red, no less) displayed on the electronic departure screens. There was, however, no visible change in security when going through the checkpoint. I didn't see a single freedom baggie.
