I use a Sprint Nextel wireless card (Aircard 580) that plugs into a laptop while travelling. Is there an affordable way to permit use of the same wireless card at home with 2 desktop computers?
We have "high speed" internet over cable at home, but it often slows to a crawl or stops completely for a couple of minutes. By comparison, the Sprint card seems to be very reliable.

you need a desktop pcmcia adaptor such as
http://www.port-place.com/uppccadrford.html
then when you use the internet setup wizard it ask you if you are getting the inernet through another compter and you say yes and have network cards and a special cable between the 2.

Or you could consider this one and use the savings to pay for a month of Sprint data service:

Or, if money is no issue:

I’ve heard that a USB connection device from Sprint may be coming down the pike.

Interesting that Verizon's T&C's for their EV-DO/mobile broadband are pretty restrictive. They specifically prohibit you from sharing the service with a router. They also prohibit uses beyond email, casual web browsing, and business intranet access (like field sales automation).
I poked around Sprint's site and did not see anywhere near the same restrictions....

I've been using my sprint phone for several years for data... using USB.
on my notebook and sometimes on desktop too.
Works great!
for the data card, you may want to consider a PCMCIA adaptor for your
desktop (as suggested earlier)

Press Release (http://www.evdoinfo.com/The_News/Latest_News/Sprint_Launches_First_EVDO_Rev_A_Network_200610248 44/) from Sprint.
As Sprint continues to launch EV-DO Revision A service in markets across the country, it is also expanding its Revision A-capable device portfolio. In early November, Sprint will make its first mobile broadband USB modem available – the Sprint Mobile Broadband USB Modem by Novatel Wireless Ovation U720. This device plugs into the USB port of any compatible laptop and will allow customers to connect to the Sprint Power Vision Network and wirelessly access audio, video and data applications. The Novatel Wireless sells for a suggested retail price of $249.99 or is available for as low as $49.99 with a two-year subscriber agreement and mail-in-rebate.
