ATLANTA (AP) -- Inside a World Airways jet, it looks like just another "cattle car" _ an all coach-class fuselage crammed with 400 passenger seats. Except for one difference. "It's the only airline where it's, 'Please stow your M-16 under the seat in front of you,'" says Marc Vetterick, the airline's Atlanta station manager. "It's probably the safest airline to fly."

That's because World Air Holdings Inc. (the parent company of World Airways and North American Airlines), serves as the largest U.S. troop carrier, and rifles are considered carry-on luggage.

Slight correction about the seating. There is a First Class section seating 30 soldiers. Requirement to sit in First Class is to be part of the baggage detail loading all the duffles. Also muzzels are to be pointed away from the aisle.

That depends on the plane. I was stuck on one World MD11 that was one class, and the seating was more cramped than any I've ever experienced on any mainline carrier. And that was an ungodly long flight (KWI-FRA-ATL).

North American's 767s are more comfortable, but still one class.
