Las Vegas - Las Vegas Properties - I'm lost!

I've searched high and low through this board for a run down on properties in Vegas that offering point-earning possibilities. My first business trip out there in scheduled for late Winter so I've begun my search in earnest. Ideally, I'd love a place that offers a lot to do - I will have a fair amount of down time while I'm there (and it's during March Madness!).
Historically, I earn points with Marriott, but am contemplating a switch to Starwood. I know there is a great amount of experience on these boards with Las Vegas travel, so if there are any suggestions for a wet-behind-the-ears business traveler I'd appreciate it greatly.

Aladdin is a Starwood property.
Last time I was there I got a sweet upgrade with my SPG Gold. Not the best casino, but it is attached to the Desert Passage mall, and is dead centre on the strip, literally right across from the Bellagio. Last time my room on the top floor (pretty sure it was) had an amazing view of the fountain! If I remember correctly they also have the best (or one of?) buffet in Vegas. Check it out.
I think I heard somewhere also that March Madness is one of the busiest times of the year in Vegas, but it's a business trip, price shouldn't really matter right? :D

Price isn't important ^
I was looking at the Aladdin - seemed like a solid option.

I'm going to move this to the Vegas forum.
As for earnings, currently, the Alladin is a SPG property - however, that's changing in the future I believe. There's the Westin - which I've stayed at before - not too bad of a property at all.
From a Marriott perspective, I've stayed at the Renaissance and had a great stay there and I've also stayed at the Courtyard. The JW is nice from what I've heard, but not really near the strip or near any action at all.
Moving to the Vegas forum...

All good advice.
Starwood: Aladdin or Westin Causarina. The Aladdin continues its slow mutation into Planet Hollywood but all indications are it will remain in SPG when it finally evolves...or devolves, depending on your point of view.
It's important to note that the Westin, while a block off the Strip, is essentially the same walking distance to the central Strip (Bellagio, Caesars) as Aladdin. Aldddin is a bit closer to Bellagio, but either is about the same distance to Caesars, and the Westin would be closer to Venetian and Wynn.
Marriott: My new favorite place to stay in Vegas in the Renaissance by the convention center. The monorail is half a block north of the hotel; rooms are new and nice; internet access is INCLUDED in the rate; and the Savvy Traveler rate is often available for $89-$109 a night, including a $100 voucher for your next stay if you stay for two nights. Look in the Specials and Packages area at their direct website: www.renaissancelasvegas.com
I've also stayed at the Marriott Suites and Courtyard near the Renaissance and they're peachy, although in those cases I think you really need a car to get around unless you don't mind paying for taxis all the time.
