Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Petty irritation - why won't my status shown on the BP?

After a number of years of Emerald happily showing up on my BP, suddenly it won't. CX can't explain why - comments from a PNR to problem to someone at TPE telling me 'I wasn't Emerald any more, how did I get the card'.

I've had this problem on AA and been able to cure it by asking for the number to be added by segment. This doesn't seem to work with CX - anyone have any solutions?

I don't seem to have a problem with CX - they seem more competent than BA when changing the FF number. On my recent travels I was able to chop and change my BA number and AA number on flight with CX on the same PNR (xONE ticket).

The only time they said they were unable to accommodate my request was when I asked for BA on one sector and AA on another when the two flights were same day connecting flights.

One thing I came across that was most bizarre was on QF when I asked for my BA number to replace the AA number existing on the sector, the guy said 'Oh you will drop back to Sapphire'. My BA card is an Emerald card and had been for at least 6 months!

Who knows how these interlinked airline systems work. Not very effectively it seems. :td:

I'm AA elite here, never had a problem.

The only thing related I can think of that I wasn't very happy about was when I was checking in at the F counters in HKG (flying in J) and they didn't believe I was Emerald. I didn't have my card with me, but still I feel they did not have to presume that I was in the wrong line and should have checked before accusing me of anything.

I have also had BA dragons call to check with someone if my status had expired when attempting to enter with FF info on BP but no card.

II feel they did not have to presume that I was in the wrong line and should have checked before accusing me of anything.

Read the conditions again on the back of your FFP card.

Not referring to you or anyone else in particular, but I'm often amazed at the importance some elite members assign to themselves. CX (or whoever else) only issues a plastic card to remember you by, because you're not all that recognizable without one.

Interesting. Have just had the same problem at CX: My BA Gold # was recorded in a multi-segment booking but status didn't show in the CX check-in system and wouldn't print on the BP. This happened on all three CX sectors, but not on my QF, AS, or LA sectors on the same ticket. CX F staff at HKG and YVR were very helpful and tried their best, but eventually concluded that it's likely a problem with the BA computer that hosts status info. They didn't seem to have encountered this before.

I reckoned the chances of getting anyone at BA to fix this were nil, so wasn't going to take this further, but maybe "we are not alone" ?

I have only had this problem at airports where another airline handles CX checkin. Most recently at CMB (handled by Sri Lankan Airlines) it took an age to explain that I was infact entitled to a lounge invite. Once the CX supervisor showed up they apologised and got it sorted straight away.

Bingo! I asked - again - at HKG on the way home who said it was a BA problem. As you say, no chance of getting anyone at BA to care about the problem so I just hope it get fixed sooner rather than later. The thought of missing out on an opup to F is too horrible to contemplate.
