Hilton HHonors - Munich and Brussels, questions
Just confirmed a trip for December (I only travel international occasionally, perhaps once per year). The local office took care of hotels since they will be joining us for part of the itinerary. So we've got two stops with them.
1. Hilton Munich City. As a gold I know my chances of upgrade are slim, and lounce access practically nil, but I'm ever the optimist :) It's booked at a corporate rate with the room type of "Einzelzimmer Standard Bad/Dusche Zweibettzimmer" and a rate type of "[Corporate ID] BREAKFAST INCLUSIVE, TAX INCLUSIVE NON COMMISSIONABLE". Anyone want to help me decipher what this likely means and what (if anything) I can do to boost my chances of upgrading? I'll be staying Sunday and Monday nights. Email or fax a reasonable approach (and anyone have the appropriate name/address for those?)
2. Brussels: Midweek reservation. Looks like they tried for the "Le Dixseptieme" but there was no availability and we landed in the Novotel Brussels Grand Place. Anyone care to comment on this place? ^ :td: A search didn't turn up anything but I gather Novotel is a midprice EU brand?

For Munich you have booked a "Single standard Bad/Shower Twin". Well, that is the cheapest room category they offer. For contacts you have got a PM

I hope "Single standard Bad" was just a typo :p

I've stayed at the Brussels Conrad before and it is great. Worth a look if it's still there. . . :)

Sorry, I had a long day: bath
An interesting observation while looking at the room types. I took Flying Lawyers advice and looked up the other room rates. While doing this I was reading the description differences between the Standard, Deluxe, and Executive rooms. They were all the exact same size, and the descriptions seemed about the same. What's the difference between them (other than lounge access for Executive)? The rates all included breakfast, so I know it's not that (and the rate jumped about EU$30 each tier). Even the Junior Suite (at over 2x the Standard room price) was only slightly larger (269sq ft vs 320ish).

Rooms have all the same size. Executive rooms are very nicely furnished in a very modern way. You have turndown service, water and you have the lounge guaranteed. And that lounge cannot be compared with the lounges you know from US: Plenty of free alcohol, spirits, beers and nice snacks....
The junior suites are for sure not woth paying any more. I get these sometimes offeres as an upgrade on a non-exective floor and a politely ask for a normal executive room.

I am in a Deluxe room at the City at this moment and I can confirm that it is very similar to the Executive room I was in the other month. However, I did get a lounge access letter. :)

Hilton Brussels Residence is a very nice place, by the way.
If you get a chance, try out the Gronplatz in Antwerp, it's a true "Take me to the Hilton" type establishment...

I assume this is saying that this Antwerp Hilton is really nice?
It is indeed, and Golds / Diamonds are treated well - the location is brilliant! The new and working Search will reveal some recent stays and comments.

yes, world class property and location.
very much like the hilton statpark in vienna, where I had the pleasure to stay for 30 days or so.
Just a follow up on this trip. No upgrade at the Munich City, but the room and hotel were nice. VERY convenient location though and would stay there again. I had emailed the front desk based upon someones helpful PM. I did get a nice reply but again, no upgrade.
On the rest of the itinerary, we were at the Hilton LHR for Friday night. I was upgraded, but we arrived at the hotel at 10:30 and the lounge was already closed for the evening. Seemed kind of early to close it on a Friday night though... I did see it the next morning, small but nice I guess. For those that have been to the Hilton Parsippany, it would seem very small. The Exec floor room was nice and well appointed. I looked in to the lounge for breakfast, but ended up taking it downstairs for the extra 4 pounds since I was meeting others.

It was clean, standard modern furniture, ok breakfast. Novotels usually have rooms that can accomodate up to four people(but then it gets really cramped). It is part of the Accor group - no loyalty program to write home about.

Do you have an e-mail contact for the Hilton in Antwerp, by any chance ?
