Hello y'all.

I'm going on a mileage run to Frankfurt, and wanted to see if any of you can recommend a gay hotel in the city for one night?

Also, in addition to The Stall and Blue Angel (which, I gathered from Flyertalk postings, are two of the more fun places to visit) any other must-enjoy locales?

Thanks much.

How about The Pure? It's not a gay hotel, but it sure looks plenty dramatic!

Even more dramatic if one makes the effort to post a link to the Pure Hotel, Frankfurt (http://www.tablethotels.com/Hotel/en/63814/Review/The-Pure-Hotel/Frankfurt-Germany).

Perhaps this could be merged with one of the existing threads about Frankfurt?

Hello. I'm going to Frankfurt, and will be staying at ArabellaSheraton GRAND. Is it a good hotel? Central? Safe area?

Thanks for the suggestion - but after doing a search - there doesn't really seem to be any "definitive" FRA thread.

I have stayed in many of Frankfurt's city centre hotels (I work for a German company) including the Arabella. Rooms are nice and big, however mine had this whole "black lacquer furniture" thing going on that reminded me of a 70s porn set. I also like the Hilton, good location, good size rooms and they have a patio outside where you can eat breakfast. If you want to be close to city centre then avoid the Radisson SAS - it is a cab ride away. Whilst the look and feel is very modern, the rooms are tiny - you really could not swing a cat in them.

Despite being a regular, I cannot comment on bars and restaurants as my visits are no more than: airport --> office --> hotel --> office --> airport :( :(

Let's make this the definitive Frankfurt thread, then. It would be rather interesting and helpful.

The Best Western is probably the most centrally located hotel in the gay area. I'm pretty sure its still there but it's been a few years since I've been.

Hello crowd,

I am bringing a forum back from the dead here, but i am off to Frankfurt in June for a little stopover of 2 days, on my way back home. Monsieur husband can't unfortunately come along with me this time.

I will be staying at the Hilton, which I heard is really nice. What do you recommend i do in town? I am into yoga, arts, walking around and a little drink.

Let me know what you recommend i do in town!

thanks

not to be offensive, but I was there for a mileage run, and it was one of the most boring cities I have visited. Walking around (along the river and old town) was the best thing I was able to do.

Best tip for having a jolly gay time in FRA:

Take the 50 minute hi-speed train to Koln (Cologne) and have a fab time in that gorgeous city with it's gorgeous occupants! :D

Which one!?

That one in cologne is called "Badehaus am Römerturm"

But please, dear FTlers, I am a "Frankfurter" so it can NOT be THAT boring.
Sure, its not Cologne or Berlin, Frankfurt only has 600 000 people there and the gay scene is smaller.
But thats why we are craving for new faces and treat them very nicely here :D :D

gives you an overview for what is going on every day.

For tourists I always recommend "Zum Schwejk" pub..its a VERY german "Kneipe" with lots of cheesy German mainstream pop music and a good mood, especially during the weekend after 10 pm.
http://www.schwejk.net/

The gay bohemian however goes to "Bar Central" and will never mix with the Schwejk crowd". Punters there are a mixture of artsy gays and muscle marys, but usually with good english skills, which might be a problem at Schwejk.
http://frankfurt.gay-web.de/city-guide/map.shtml

Both scenes however mix at "LM" Luckys manhattan, which is the gay mainstream pub which can be found in any other city too.

"Stall" is for those ont he rough site but def. the place to be on tueday nights , everybody then goes there becasue its 2 4 1.
http://www.stall-frankfurt.de/

And we also have the more peculiar bars where you can find boys who want to have fun with you for a small fee... ( "Comeback" ,"Mr. Dorians", "Krawallschachtel")

Clubbing: There are two bars/clubs : "Pulse" and "Blue Angel" , the latter only th/FR/SAT/SUN and PULSE with dancing on FR/SAT.
However , also in FRA there are special monthly/quarterly parties like "Club 78", "Under construction", "Joystick", "Wrinkles", "Nox", Oriental parties, etc , parties which are much more popular than the standard fare of "Blue angel" and "Pulse". Check Agenda on the link above. ("termine")

Oh, yes.. and thats me in our gay "blue Pages"

I'm assuming your layover is following a red-eye flight. If that's the case, there's not much to do a far as gay-nightlife, but it's definitely worth going into the city. It's a very walkable town, and this time of year, you should be able to find a few Christkindl Markets open so you can enjoy some good food and a few beers.

If your looking for some "action", the area just around the train station has bookstores and porn shops, but you're better off exploring. Maybe you'll have enough time for a river boat tour. Hope you enjoy it!
