We are visiting both the North & South Islands in Feb 07, we plan to pick up a car at AKL airport & end up in Napier on the North Island the best rates at the moment seem to be with Hertz using a United Mileage Plus code or Europcar New Zealand. The disadvantage with Europcar is they are in the Domestic Terminal.

On the South Island we need to pick up at Nelson Airport & drop off at CHC Europcar, Apex or Omega seem to be offering the best deals. Has anyone used Apex or Omega, the cars they offer seem to be 2 to 3 years old but I assume are well kept. We are looking at something like the Toyota Camry.

Any suggestion or advice are welcome.

Thanks

My last trip to NZ included a 4-day rental. The best rate I found at that time was with acerental (http://www.acerentalcars.co.nz/). Had no problems with their car or service.

I wouldn't make a decision based on domestic or international terminal location. There is a free shuttle bus running between terminals every 20 minutes. Also it is a short 10 minute walk (yes you can take the trolleys between the terminals, or just one person walk without bags to get the car and drive back to international terminal to pick up the rest of you).
