California - visiting san diego

visiting san diego nov 7 for 6 days. interested in places to visit, and good restaurants.

Where are you staying? Or have you decided?

Also where are you from? Get to see ocean very often?

I was in San Diego earlier this year for a conference, and had a great meal at the Coronado Boathouse Restaurant (http://www.coronado-boathouse.com/), which is on Coronado Island (a must-visit, IMO, if you visit San Diego - best beach in the area at the Hotel Del). Apparently, you can take a water taxi there from downtown (I stayed at the Del, so I just walked across the street).

Their prime rib was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and I loved the view of the SD Bay from the dining room.

The Gaslamp District downtown has a high concentration of great restaurants with a wide variety of food.

Things to do;

1. San Diego Zoo.
2. Aerospace Museum.
3. Wonder around the beautiful Balboa Park, visit the Prado. I think you could spend a couple of days just in around Balboa Park seeing the Museums there.
4. The Gaslamp district is fun to walk around.
5. Coronado Island is worth a visit (a little too remote for a decent tourist base though).
6. Scripps Aquarium.
7. The beach at La Jolla.
8. The Presidio.

Failing that, how about a good guide book?

San Diego Wild Animal Park in Escondido. Olifina (sp?) winery nearby. Indian Casinos. Visit the Midway. 100's of things to do. visit Julian..have some apple pie. Fish. Whale watch (a bit early). Hornblower dinner cruise.....
