Hilton HHonors - Doubletree Hotel Tampa Westshore Airport

Have another choice in where to stay? Take it. Looks like a bargain? Don't beleive it. Not a fun choice in Tampa - IMHO.

Next time try the Doubletree Suites. Its as close as the Westshore to the airport - still a Doubletree and lacks the awful scum factor of the DT Westshore. I'd rather stay a a LaQuinta than spend another night in that dump.

I have noticed that many Doubletree properties are going downhill..whats happening???..Actually,id rather stay at a nice Hampton with Free Hot Breakfast,Free Internet,and Free Parking..those amenities add up..on a side note I have had to stay at the Radison near the airport and I will assure you..Id rather be at the Doubletree.

Any one been their recently. I am going next week and the DTGS rocky point is 179 and the DT is 119. I like the DTGS, but 60 bucks a night is rather much.

My last stay at the DT was in January 2006. I was upgraded to an executive room. I haven't had any problems with this property.

I stayed at Doubletree Guest Suites Tampa Bay Rocky Point 2 weeks ago for 6 nights. Half of the hotel is being remodeled. The rooms are very old and in dire need of the updating which won't be completed until late summer I was told. The black & white TV in the bathroom was circa 1970. Only the lower floors are available. As A Gold there were no other bennies other than a weak hot breakfast. Stay at the Hampton right down the street about 1,000 feet away or the Hilton in Ybor City.

I stayed there about a year ago and the rooms were nasty. I was upgraded to a suite, but the room looked like it hadn't been vac'd in a week. The fold out bed had the sheets literally balled up in it and obviously they weren't changed. I had housekeeping and maintenance to the room several times to clean up stuff.

the hotel also lacks parking. When I was there, NFL Europe was having meetings there as well as a VFW convention. The place was booked solid and we had to park (after circling several dozen times) in the parking garage (which was reserved for the wrestling show they were having in the ballroom that night!) Security was sitting there telling me that all the spots were reserved and I finally got p.o.ed and parked my car right in front of him(while he threatened to tow me!), walked in the hotel and chewed out the manager. He told me that I could park in there, but only on the top floor!!! Needless to say, I parked where I wanted and then proceeded to call the diamond desk to report my issues.

Overall, the hotel stinks. A better choice is the Embassy Westshore or even the Hampton Rocky Point. I also stayed at the DT Rocky Point and it was OK as well, but a bit overpriced I felt.

Just stayed at the Hampton at Rocky Point for MORE than the DT was at Westshore. That property is a dump and quite frankly most DT are. They are more often than not refurbished properties from other chains. I don't like them and avoid them at all costs.
