Unfortunately, the people who answer emails must be the lowest possible customer service employees and always seem to reply with canned replies.

I suggest you try calling and explaining your situation. Ask (very nicely) to speak with a supervisor. You may have to call more than once.

Make sure they understand that you do not have to stay at Hilton and can ask SPG for the same courtesy if HHonors is not able to fulfill your request. ;)

I second the motion to call.
HHonors comped my husband Gold because of his AA status (unsolicited), so it seems to me they should be willing to grant the OP status a week early.

I third the motion. ;)

In general, e-mail is the least effective way to communicate with any customer service department. It's just too easy for them to either 1) ignore it, or 2) send one of those horrible canned replies. :td:

Any time you have a special request, phone. If you don't like the answer, hang up and phone again! Repeat as necessary.

Back in March I was comped early Gold and then proceeded to earn Diamond Status--be willing to call again if they say no, perhaps you will come across a more understanding/empowered CSR on your next call.

Ringing generally the best way - if you get an idiot, just call again later and ask the same questions until they say yes.

There are so much grey areas and lack of product knowledge at the call centre that you could get 20 different answers form 20 different people on several subjects.

If you have to email - I find the most effective is gold@hilton.com or diamond@hilton.com - even if your not gold.

Something that we've learned from FT, if you don't like the answer,
call, call, and call again until you get the answer you want!

It worked!! I emailed the Gold desk and received a personal reply back with an immediate upgrade.

You guys (and girls) are great! Thanks for all the help!

And your point is not evident. The OP has already stated that s/he will soon be earning Diamond.

What's the email for the gold desk. I'm SPG Gold and probably stay 20+ nights per year at Starwood. Would stay even more at Hilton because they're in more places.

Just got the CC and would love to be immediately comp'd. I called the phone and got no love.

There is a difference between the OP, who already has enough stays reserved to make gold and someone who has only a few stays calling up asking for a status bump.

IMHO HHonors made a good call by making this customer happy!

I just emailed Hilton with this:

Dear Hilton Gold Customer Service,
I've been a Hilton Honors member for some years but have not stayed at many Hiltons due to my perks and seniority with some of your competitors, mainly Starwood and Marriott. I've never been a fan of Marriott and have had recent difficulties finding Starwood hotels in the main business areas I frequent.

Because of that, I'm likely switching my loyalty to Hilton. I feel your line of hotels and the vast amount of them fit my personal and professional needs. Currently I'm SPG Gold and Marriott Silver (see attached pictures for that info). I also have the SPG AMEX which I spend over $50k per year on (see last month's $9,600 statement attached). I just applied and was approved for the Hilton card and I plan on moving that $50k per year over to the Hilton Honors Amex (see attachment for AMEX approval).

I've been spoiled by the premium status of Starwood for so long, but would like to immediately begin using Hilton. However, it will be until early next year before I earn the $20,000 points necessary to become a gold member via the credit card. Until then, I can't justify staying at Hilton properties over Starwood or even Marriott.

I'm asking for a courtesy comp to Gold based on my stays at competing resorts (see attachments for Marriott and Starwood stays) and that I'm switching my credit card immediately to yours. In addition to my stays with Marriott and Starwood, I did stay at a Hilton property in Manhattan and have one reservation for a stay next week. With Starwood, I'm only able to stay at about half the hotels I would with Hilton, so I'm confident I will be staying at nearly double the nights shown in these attachments if I consolidate my stays mainly to Hilton.

I know you do not have to honor this request, but I would appreciate the consideration, and I would consider it a welcome greeting to the elite Hilton Honors program. My Hilton number is: 8******9

Thank you very much,
Brian

I attached my 9 stays at Starwood, 8 stays with Marriott, my last statement of $9600 with the SPG Amex, as well as my approval email regarding the HHonors Amex.

Hopefully that's enough for consideration.

I could be wrong, but I don't think HH will comp gold based on CC spending. Besides, straight comps are very rare, a gold challenge is more likely.

Well I showed a total of about 18 stays across those three companies. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
