Enrolle by December 31, 2006. Limit of 100,000 bonus points. http://www.americanexpress.com/earnpoints UserMark Oct 31, 06, 5:47 pm This is great, thanks. I just received my gold card (the one with 10k MR points and 1st year free) and I was able to register it for this promotion. SANBO93 Oct 31, 06, 5:49 pm Registered no problems.. ^ andol469 Oct 31, 06, 5:50 pm Successfully enrolled my Rewards Plus Gold. :) amorn Oct 31, 06, 8:16 pm awesome. just joined. i've been waiting for one of these. gator96 Oct 31, 06, 8:50 pm This is yet another reason why I should switch back to gold from Platinum. Seems crazy that Platinum doesn't get a double point bonus but gold does. diapickle Oct 31, 06, 9:35 pm Got my reward plus gold in. ^ alanh Oct 31, 06, 10:29 pm Woo hoo, it's back in the wallet. lmai Oct 31, 06, 10:35 pm It didn't work for me. I have gold rewards plus. I called customer service and they said i have to solicited for the promotion. Did everyone who sign up get a solicitation? moolman Oct 31, 06, 11:07 pm I signed up this morning when I saw the promotion at another website. When I came home today, there was a mailer from AMEX for the promotion. This the first time ever that I actually got a mailer telling me of the promotion. It's a bit bigger than a post card and opens into two pages. My question is if it started in October 1st, why didn't they mail it sooner. doglover Oct 31, 06, 11:20 pm It let me register my green card. twoner32 Oct 31, 06, 11:33 pm GREAT find. THANKS A million. Here's my question-Where do people find these? It's 10/31/2006 and so this has been out there for 31 days now. How come they don't tell us about these? Thanks bpoleary Nov 1, 06, 1:40 am thanks for the tip! cyrdog Nov 1, 06, 6:26 am Ok. I started this thread for everyone (with a nice clear title) so that no one would miss this opportunity. I didn't actually receive a postcard for this (although my girlfriend did). I just saw someone mentioned it deep within another thread and thought that I should pull it out for everyone to see. I remember a few folks being upset earlier in the year when they missed some of these. Anyway, have I question. I'm not sure if I'm going to sign up for this or not since it's capped at 100,000 points. I will be spending $300,000 between now and the end of the year, and I don't want to enroll in one of these too quickly if another might come out with no cap. I'm sure many of us remember the myriad variants on the base bonus promotion earlier in the year (i.e. each had different minimum spend thresholds and bonus caps). What do people think? Sign up now and take the cap? Or risk it and wait to see if another comes out? I can only imagine how greedy I must sound to you Plat folks who can't enroll in these promotions. I sincerely apologize, and my heart goes out to you. PimpNumOne Nov 1, 06, 7:24 am I was enrolled in a 'Double Points' and 'Spend over $3000' promo both at the same time and recieve points for both offers. I enrolled. Will move my activity back from my jetBlue AmEx to the Gold Rewards Plus. So it is double points 10/1 to 12/31? Any T+Cs? Thanks to the OP :) TribeFlyer Nov 1, 06, 8:15 am It let me register my green card. Ditto! I wonder if Amex saw a big dropoff of charges after the end of "Everyday Spend" bonuses on Oct 1... cyrdog Nov 1, 06, 8:18 am It sounds like some of you guys were able to register for multiple promotions at the same time. Was anyone able to register for multiple VARIATIONS of the prior promotions. I can't remember which month it was, but there was a promotion that had like 10 different variants (spend ranges, maximum points, etc). Was anyone able to register in multiple of those and actually received points for each? nub2travel Nov 1, 06, 10:09 am I really needed a good reason to use my amex. I just tried to register my gold rewards plus card & was told I was not eligible for this offer. karthik Nov 1, 06, 11:15 am Yay, I'm finally eligible for another double points promo! Time to put away the HH Amex with the 30k promo until the end of the year. I was getting rather annoyed at the lack of double point promos on both my Gold Rewards Plus and DL cards. Now if Amex would only give me the 25k MR signup bonus points for the GRP that I've been fighting with them for... Thanks! chuckb Nov 1, 06, 11:22 am good to go with my RP Gold, tks for posting this. cestmoi123 Nov 1, 06, 12:47 pm DEE-nied. :( Points Scrounger Nov 1, 06, 12:52 pm Mine went through, but as I didn't know about this MR promo, I used my DL AMEX card last month instead for their 25% bonus - not great, but better than nothing. karthik Nov 1, 06, 12:56 pm DEE-nied. :( What type of card? I found my Platinum card in the past was never eligible for these promos. In fact, an Amex CSR actually told me outright that the Platinum card was designed with benefits for the frequent traveller, while the Gold and Green cards were designed to make people spend more money, thus the promos! mgi Nov 1, 06, 1:22 pm It let me register my green card. For me too. Now lets see if we can get the double points.. irotem Nov 1, 06, 2:14 pm Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Was looking for this promo for quite a while... art vandelay Nov 1, 06, 11:29 pm Thanks, cyrdog. Signed up my Gold card with no problems. Yet another good deal pointed out by a FT'er. ^ itsme Nov 2, 06, 12:33 am It let me register my green card. Mine too. Do you think we will see bonus, which they say is for Gold Card holders? (If I'm not going to get the bonus, I'd rather stick to my AmEx SPG.) chuckb Nov 2, 06, 6:16 am Mine too. Do you think we will see bonus, which they say is for Gold Card holders? (If I'm not going to get the bonus, I'd rather stick to my AmEx SPG.) If you got the confirmation e-mail after registering you should get your points, I've been enrolled in the double point promos since April and all of my bonus points have posted to my MR account so far. The trend I've seen is about 8 weeks after the promo ends for the points to post. - ChuckB cyrdog Nov 2, 06, 8:11 am Mine too. Do you think we will see bonus, which they say is for Gold Card holders? (If I'm not going to get the bonus, I'd rather stick to my AmEx SPG.) Regardless of Green or Gold, if the system accepts you, and you get the confirmation e-mail, you'll get the bonus. My girlfriend has a green, and I have gold, and we've both been successful in receiving these bonuses. In the past, there were green and gold variants (where one couldn't enroll in the other's promotions), but this one appears to be letting both in. cyrdog Nov 2, 06, 8:13 am Yep! Yep FYF Enrl July/Aug 06 10,399 MR 2xpt $3K 3MoNoFee 7,000 FYF Enrl July/Aug 06 4,880 I don't know if this meant that you were actually enrolled in 2 FYF promotions (I think this one is of the same type). I think you're seewhat what a lot of us saw in that the points from the "FYF Enrl July/Aug 06" promotion posted to your account in 2 batches. I was able to enroll in completely different types of pomotions like the 2xpt one above, but I was not able to enroll in 2 of these FYI promotions (when there was like 10 versions with different spend minimums and point caps). surfinglbi23 Nov 2, 06, 9:21 am Used to get these with my Rewards Plus Gold ... no more since I am Plat now :( jeeden Nov 2, 06, 10:35 am Got this address in the mail yesterday for my green card. I had already signed up with the gold card site though, I wonder what would happen if I tried to do this one to. http://www.americanexpress.com/points dave209 Nov 3, 06, 9:38 am Received this in the mail for my company rewards cards. Both my Plat. and my gold worked. open.com/sweeps1 itsme Nov 3, 06, 1:45 pm Better to use the green card for 2 MR points or the AmEx SPG for 1 SPG point? I guess the former, because I can turn MR points into ANA miles (my best use of them), but do like SPG points. (Will be using AmEx cards abroad next week, since they impose only a 2% foreign currency exchange fee, whereas most other plastic carries a 3% fee.) How do others see the relative advantages of MR points vs SPG points in terms of what they would swap at? What about MR points and SPG points against airline miles and other hotel points, when no direct conversion to establish the ratios? UnitedFFinAsia Nov 4, 06, 8:26 am I never was elligible with my Rewards Gold Card and I still am not elligible with my AMEX Platinum. I guess I get screwed either way. -UFFA diapickle Nov 4, 06, 10:21 am MR 2xpt $3K 3MoNoFee 7,000 What's this promotion? If I recall correctly there was a promotion that gave double points on amounts spent over $3,000.00 in a statement cycle or a month. Honestly I cannot confirm this as I sign up for all the promotions I see here on FlyerTalk. rserson Nov 7, 06, 8:09 am I am a Gold member with non US address. American Express typically excludes The Platinum Card from Membership Rewards promotions because they believe that Platinum cardholders are more interested in benefits than rewards. While this may seem perverse to the Platinum cardholders on Flyertalk it is probably true in the broader universe. mia Nov 7, 06, 9:58 am I am a Gold member with non US address. While this may seem perverse to the Platinum cardholders on Flyertalk it is probably true in the broader universe. I know what one can get with MR points, but not clear about those Platinum benefits. Webpage for the card didn't speak to me. I see that one gets access to clubs, but only the clubs of a few airlines (3?), none which I patronize, and only when one is traveling that same day with one of those few airlines. I'm not interested in travel assistance, which I could get if I want it, with my Ameniti membership. So, can someone just shout out the major advantages of Platinum that might justify a $395 annual fee. cyrdog Nov 7, 06, 8:23 pm Last week I tried with my Rewards Gold card and got rejected. Thiis week I got an e-mail and tried with my brand new plat. card...and it worked. Very strange. It accepted your PLATINUM card? All you platinum folks should take note of this. I wonder what is different about your card/account. You are the first person I have heard of being accepted into this promotion. I think this is great and gives some hope to all those Platinum members who are wishing that they just had Gold for promotions like this. rfrost Nov 8, 06, 1:14 pm I did not get a mailer and just saw this today, so thank you, OP, for posting it.
