Ze'evi demands emergency assistance for Israeli airlines
Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi has requested that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon provide emergency financial assistance to Israeli air carriers suffering in the wake of the September 11th attacks in the United States.
American and European airlines are experiencing a crisis as air travel has dropped dramatically in the wake of the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.
Some airlines have cancelled altogether their flights into Israel and there is an overall drop of 35 percent in the number of incoming flights.
The crisis is likewise affecting Israeli carriers, and Ze'evi has thus requested emergency assistance for El Al, Arkia, and Israir.
