There are many interesting threads on Coba and I was wondering what a taxi would cost to make this trip from Cancun?
Mexico - Cancun to CobaView Full Version : Cancun to Coba 360guy Oct 29, 06, 6:36 pm There are many interesting threads on Coba and I was wondering what a taxi would cost to make this trip from Cancun? JDiver Oct 30, 06, 10:04 am We're talking about México, right? It's negotiable. ;) But you are talking about at least a short day's travel - you can hire a car, see Cobá, as well as visit some of the other sights en route (Playa del Carmen, Tulúm - worth a short stop merely because of its spectacular location or to see the "diving god", and some would like to see Xcaret (nature's abomination, IMO,) or the Crococún crocodile farm. Cobá istelf is spread out and requires some walking to see a bit of it - preferably, early in themorning, and then off to lunch at Villas Arqueológicas there (one of Club Med's archaeological site hotels,) and stops during the drive back.) The best thing to do is to ask at your hotel - and even ask your taxi driver show much they would charge for a day. Be selective: if the car is a rattletrap, poorly equipped or uncomfortable, or the driver uncareful, don't ask... You should find hiring a car and driver for the day should be quite competitive with hiring a car, you don't have to worry about the driving, following dodgy or out of date maps (assuming you can find one) or undertaking the different Mexican legal and insurance risks; you have someone to drop and pick you up at the entrance, etc., and watch over anything left in the car. |
