This week I stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Chesapeake-Chesapeake Sq. Mall, VA the front desk clerk told me that this is a new prototype room lay out. I stayed in a room with a king size bed. The hotel opened in late July. The big changes was that the head of the bed was against the bathroom wall this made the room seem a little bigger but, you could hear the toilet flush in your neighbors room. The other major change was the room did not have a couch or chair and ottoman. You had a choice of watching tv in bed or sitting at the desk that was it.

On the plus side all the rooms have flat screen TV’s and really comfortable beds.

With walls that thin at Hampton Inns you can ALWAYS hear the neighbours toilet flush!

So were your feet, when you were in bed, facing the window?

I sort of like this type of layout, at least as something different then the normal hotel layout.

Although I don't like not having a chair / couch as I tend to hang clothes on them. As well, if it is a sleeper couch then that means I have to get a Double room (instead of a King) when travelling with the family instead of getting a King and then a crib and using the sleeper couch.

My question would be, what about the Double rooms, the bathroom wall is not large enough to fit two double beds.

My guess they are going for the more open airy feeling that some other hotels have started to use.
