We are in ORD for Pack Expo which is a huge show. Even a month ago every room in ORD was sold out. Pack Expo Reservations was searching and coming back with rooms at ORD. No thanks.
We were finally able to find rooms at the Chicago Hilton for Thursday and Friday on-line, but the only room we could find for Saturday was at the Palmer House, using our Diamond Status to force the reservation. It was at $349.99 per nigh.
We were given a really beautiful suite here at the Chicago Hilton, so this morning (Hunki had to be at McCormick early) I just really wasn't prepared to schlep all of our luggage over to the Palmer House by myself. I called the front desk to enquire and they assured me that the hotel was indeed totally sold out.
Being a die-hard optimist, I jumped on line and, sure enough, the Chicago Hilton had rooms for the paltry sum of $229.00 a night. YEAH! ^ Knowing how tight rooms are her in Chicago, Hunki was thinking that we would probably be lucky to end up with just the bedroom portion of our suite, but when we went up to the lounge, they simply asked, "Would you like to keep the same room?" We naturally said, "Yes!"
I am enjoying the suite and the beautiful views from seven different windows. :) It is a clear sunny day here in Chicago, the leaves in the park are bright gold and the lake is as mesmering as ever. Hunki has to work all day and I don't have to meet with my client until tomorrow so I think I might go shopping. I feel only a little bit guilty.
You got to love the internet. ^
