Just wondering... are there any benefits for buying train tickets in the UK on Plat Charge? I am presuming there must be some incentive with regards to first class travel, even if it's only some days.

No, except for the Eurostar lounge benefit

I can go first class to Sheffield to see my folks for under £30 as it is, as long as I book a couple of weeks in advance - I don't need much more incentive!

I suppose you are right, but there's always the time when you need to go at short notice. Plus blasted season tickets!! IIRC they provide free insurance for 'public transport travel' - can't remember where I read that exactly though.

Can you explain that benefit? Do I need to charge the tix to my Plat Card? If I charge the fix to my Amex Corp Card, I don't need to expense it because it is paid directly and that is what they (company) want us to do.

I assume this benefit would give me the best of both worlds by buying leisure FC on Eurostar. I would get FC seating and Lounge Access and save some money. The only thing I guess I would lose is the 10 minute checkin?

You can get into all the Eurostar lounges simply by showing your Plat Amex at the desk. This works with any class of ticket, even economy. So, yes - it basically removes the only main difference between Leisure First and Business First.

You do not have to charge your ticket to your plat card.
