Last August we visited the Big Island (Hawaii) and rented a car from Thrifty. On our trip to Volcano National Park, I manage to scrape up the front right bumper pretty good parking the car. Knowing what even minor body damage runs, I was thinking yikes, the cost of this vacation just went way up! :(
Returning the car I filled out the paperwork, writing down the details of where the damage was. The people there (KOA) seemed nice enough, but said it would take some time before we heard from them.
It definitely did take some time... about a month! And the first letter just told us things were in process, and they needed info from us regarding insurance etc (which I had already provided).
Then a couple weeks ago we get another letter from them, telling us the damage ran $357. I was, to say the least, relieved. It seemed like a very reasonable amount, with no attempt from Thrifty to take advantage of the fact that I'm 2500 miles away and really couldn't contest whatever they came up with.
So in my book, Thrifty seems like a pretty decent outfit.
