American Express Membership Rewards - points on blue cardView Full Version : points on blue card all4jo Oct 24, 06, 5:19 pm i accumulated 32000 points and i was ready to do a transfer to priority club and its not 1 to 1. is there a restriction on what card you have? Kagehitokiri Oct 24, 06, 6:14 pm blue card is membership reward options, which i thought was discontinued completely.. guess not. they are half as valuable as membership rewards. mia Oct 25, 06, 9:01 am The charge cards (e.g. Rewards Green, Rewards Gold) which participated in Membership Rewards Options were recently eliminated, but the program still exists for credit cards (e.g. Blue, Knot, Nest). all4jo it's true that Membership Rewards Options transfer 2:1 to most external programs, which means 32,000 will convert to only 16,000 Priority Club points. The only way around this is to apply for an American Express charge card (Preferred Rewards Green or better) which participates in the full Membership Rewards program. You can then "link" the two cards to the same Membership Rewards account and the points earned with the Blue card will be treated as if they had been earned with the new card and transfer 1:1. dennis sithlord Oct 25, 06, 9:52 am Or you can pay 40 dollars to membership rewards a year and upgrade from options to 1 to 1 transfers. all4jo Oct 25, 06, 7:48 pm well can i do this . i already have an amex gold business card that im an additional card holder. can i link my blue to that one even though im an additional card holder? sdsearch Oct 28, 06, 10:43 am i accumulated 32000 points and i was ready to do a transfer to priority club and its not 1 to 1. is there a restriction on what card you have?Whatever you do, do it by early February, as after that point, Membership Rewards Options (what your Blue card has) will not longer be able to be transferred to any hotel points or airline miles (only redeemed for junk or cashback). If you get a Membership Rewards card also, then AMEX will link the two together, which will turn your MR Options points (which redeem 2:1) into true MR points (which will redeem 1:1). But going forward, if hotel points and/or airline miles is what you want, the Blue card will no longer work for you next year. (And all MR cards have substantial annual fees in the long term, even though sometimes you can get an offer for the first year annual fee waived on one.) |
