American Express Membership Rewards - Official Undocumented MR Awards Thread

It came up in another thread that there are MR awards that are apparently undocumented. The awards being discussed in that thread were specifically hotel suites. I would like to use this thread to list any and all undocumented awards that are available. This doesn't include the obvious, like the fact that you can use .5% point value to buy nearly anything.

I'll start it off with the following, which I confirmed just now by calling MR:

Bellagio Salon Suite - 60,000 points
Bellagio Suite - 65,000 points
Bellagio Penthouse Suite - 80,000 points
Ritz Carlton Lake Las Vegas 1br suite - 60,000 points
Wynn Suite - 140,000 points

According to the rep on the phone, they have undocumented suite awards at *most* Four Seasons, but I would have needed to ask her each property. This is why I think this thread would be useful, because as people find out about them they can be added.

Again, this shouldn't be limited to hotels, necessarily. Any undocumented awards would be great to know about.

For reference Diners Club offers a Ritz Cartlon suite award, in addition to the room award...

Item Name Ritz-Carlton Ritz-Carlton Prestige Suite
Item Number 9796d
Points 38,500
Description Accommodations for one night in an elegantly appointed suite at any Ritz-Carlton hotel worldwide with no seasonal exceptions. Enjoy American breakfast for two the following morning (tax and gratuity included). Also includes all applicable room taxes.

If they have one for sale, can you book with M.R.

Or is it subject to "availability" and "preperty discretion"?

Also can you round up and buy shortage points at 2,5 cents????

Great Thread!

Great Thread!

I know you can book directly through MR, but I'm sure it's somehow capacity controlled...

Capacity controls are a key question, as Bellagio Penthouse Suites can often be had for $650 or less -- making 80k points not a particularly good value. (They can also be had for slipping the checkin clerk $100, but that's another current thread.. ;) )

Still, good to know - especially at non-Vegas properties, and Four Seasons in particular. I wonder whether there are any particularly good redemption values in this category? Because if there were, and with my Amex MR balance, I'd consider them.

Does M.R. go to Amtrak??

If not it shows the value of *points.

60,000 * points goes to 75,000 CO miles.

CO transfer into Amtrak at 1:1 Unlimited!! No annual cap.
(The other way Amtrak to CO is capped at 25,000 per year for non Amtrak elites)

So , indirectly, with *points , you can get 2 nights (70,000) instead of 1 (35,000) and have 5,000 Amtrak points left over that you can convert to 10,000 Hilton HHonors.

In General, Amex M.R. is a terriable deal for any hotel night awards, think Hyatt stay cert , etc.

grossly over priced for most travel Awards ( Hertz etc,).

The out right conversion to miles , points where allowed are less disadvantagous.

I think M.R. is good for "rounding Up" exsisting balances with partners.

The 2:1 Hilton via HI ( If that is "safe" with no chance that the points will get stuck in the airline program.

The Amtrak Ritz Carlton award is for a room, not a suite.

For reference, Diners Club offers the room award for 31,000 points.

Membership Rewards points can be transferred to Amtrak via Continental Airlines, same as Starpoints and sometimes there are transfer bonuses.
