as i said in your other thread, i get it pretty much only for fine hotel and resort benefit. starwood gold doesnt hurt either. $250 for FHR is more than worth it for me.
airport lounge access, insurance, concierge, by invitation only, there are many things plat has that gold does not.
there is TONS of discussion in this forum and the other credit cards forum. i suggest browsing through it.

There are many many differences between Platinum and Gold. Most of them will be immaterial to any one person's lifestyle, travel pattern or shopping habits. I think it's better to see it all for yourself and decide which features are appealing. Then, come back and ask if anyone has ever used them and how close the reality is to the puffery.
