I saw them for sale at the following Web site:

http://www.usbyrail.com/MacAmerica/default.htm

Anyone have any experience with this "MacAmerica" outfit? I.e., are they legitimate / reliable?

Never heard of them, much less used them.

However, seeing as one can buy the 5 day pass from Amtrak for the same price as they are advertising, why take a chance?

It should also be noted that these passes are only valid for the Northeast region, not nation wide and they are not valid for US or Canadian citizens. You must have a passport that is not from Canada or the US to use these passes.

Amtrak now sells the passes directly from their website:

As an update, I got in touch with Mac America, and they say they are an Amtrak subsidiary. The reason I was thinking of buying the pass from them is that Amtrak does not sell the 7-day pass directly to consumer--only the 5-day or the 15-day pass.
