Had a few cards in the UK, mix of charge and credit cards and used the Global Transfers scheme to get myself a Hilton Amex last month. Was approved on the phone and told my card would arrive by 5th October. We'd moved during that time and thought maybe the mail was slow coming through, even though I gave the new address.
Late on Wednesday I called to see what the problem was. Seems the card got lost in the mail. Even though this was only a Hilton Amex I got the card overnighted using UPS and it arrived yesterday morning. Impressive stuff ^ In fact Amex did a similar thing with a BA Amex card in the UK. Waited a while for it to arrive, gave up and called. The card was with me even faster, told them I wanted the card to use on a trip to the US. At that time I had no history with Amex and was only 18 so not as if they were pampering a high spending Centurion.
Funnily I called to activate the card and spoke to someone. Because I have two middle names my surname on the account got substituted for my second initial :) Seems American systems don't like pretentious idiots with two middle names :D
