Other Asian, Australian and South Pacific Frequent Flyer Programs - tiger air partnersView Full Version : tiger air partners teacher5 Oct 20, 06, 4:32 am does tiger air have any partners? would love to get miles for an inter-asia glight i am actually paying for thanks USDHS1984 Oct 20, 06, 2:12 pm If you mean Tiger Airways, there is no such thing as frequent flyer miles from them. But hey, at least if you have to pay, it surly was very little money. teacher5 Oct 20, 06, 3:49 pm thanks we did not directly book the airline..part of a pacific delight tour...was supposed to be thai air..got changed to tiger..oh well appreciate the info USDHS1984 Oct 20, 06, 4:56 pm Now (disclaimer mode on) for the price (disclaimer mode off) Tiger Airways is really an awesome airline. I like them allot, I've flown them quite a few times and happily will again in the future when it's on my dime. OTOH if I was on a "Pacific delight tour” that was supposed to be Thai Airways and wound up with Tiger airways instead I would probably be a little bit miffed. Tiger Airways is of course a LCC and is not even in the same league as Thai. Tiger Airways most endearing factors are the awesome prices, that they have clean new planes and at least for me they have always tended to be on schedule. But the 29 inch seat pitch, no assigned seating, 15kg baggage allowance, no FFP, snack food for sale and Changi’s budget terminal kind of tends to make them compare pretty poorly to the likes of Thai until you factor in the fact that the ticket probably only cost half as much or less. teacher5 Oct 20, 06, 8:36 pm i am caught up on the 15 k weight limit..we will be gone for a month ....dont know how i can do that weight wise JohnWM Oct 20, 06, 10:16 pm When I traveled on Tiger Airways this past spring (Singapore to Darwin, and return), I was in the middle of a one-month trip through SE Asia. So, yes, I did have luggage and no, I was not about to jettison it simply to make life easier for Tiger Airways. I simply took everything with me, and paid the excess baggage charges. The excess baggage charges are delineated on the Tiger Airways website, and are charged against you twice (once outbound, and once again inbound if doing a round-trip). In my case, I recollect that the excess baggage charges were about $US50 on each occasion, almost as much as the actual airfare. Tiger Airways staff will weigh your baggage, then give you a bill that you must bring to a different desk for payment. Upon receipt of the payment, the staff will then put the destination tags on your luggage. i am caught up on the 15 k weight limit..we will be gone for a month ....dont know how i can do that weight wise jpatokal Oct 21, 06, 4:26 am i am caught up on the 15 k weight limit..we will be gone for a month ....dont know how i can do that weight wise Practically anything you're bringing from Florida can be bought more cheaply in South-East Asia, so do you really need to take 15 kg per person? If you want to be difficult, you could try whine to the travel agency that you bought the tickets expecting a 20 kg allowance, so they have to pay for Tiger's excess weight charges. gary_nj Oct 25, 06, 8:31 am I think I would be more wary of the agency after hearing of this substitution. Naturally, all tour operators have the right to substitute "comparable" alternatives, but I think a reasonable person would not consider THAI and Tiger to be comparable. Yes, you could try to work something with the agency based on your expectation that you would have 20kg of luggage, but I would be a bit more concerned that this might represent a bit of misrepresentation on the part of the tour operator. If you haven't yet left on the tour, it might be interesting to contact the agency and see if there is any refund for the obvious downgrading of the intra-Asian air transport. cmdsea Nov 3, 06, 9:09 pm Probably not much help to the OP but having had the opportunity to fly both, for LCC travel out of Changi Jetstar are WAY better than Tiger if you have the choice.. In order of preference.. Pre - bookable seats (Buy online at their website and choose your seats on the spot.. including exit rows.!) Leaves from the main terminal not the budget shed (sorry terminal) 20Kg allowance And fares are just as good as Tiger. Particularly when they have their regular deals on. Flying Singapore - Cairns in January for S$88 each way. Even though it seems a helluva long way to go in A320...! |
