Anyone know if this a seasonal schedule change or permanent? That will definitely change my B6 bookings I just checked, and noticed that a lot of transcontinental flight routes are reducing frequencies in the next few months (examples: JFK-LAS, LGB, OAK all reduced by one or more flight). While this may be a seasonal adjustment, they are dropping to (in)frequencies not seen in a while. I guess jetBlue has decided that coast-to-coast flying is not their bread-and-butter, and will focus much more on shorter routes. It's a bit of a bummer, given that their cheap, comfortable, and convenient transcons are what really distinguished the airline early on. Seat13c Oct 20, 06, 12:13 pm As a thought, (and could be off base on this one) B6 is selling off 5 or 6 A320's, which leaves them at a stand still for the next several months in increasing their fleet size. With ORD coming online soon (possibly some other destinations like STL), they will need planes to deploy. JetBlueFA Oct 20, 06, 4:39 pm BOS-OAK-BOS is constantly full. The other day I brought the morning departure out of OAK and we where completely full 156. Also don't forget that the 320 doesn't have the legs to make it coast to coast in the winter with a full load, given strong headwinds. Also we have seen coast to coast flying isn't as profitable these days with the higer fuel loads and strong competition. subwaybill Oct 20, 06, 9:11 pm JFK-LAS is definitely a seasonal adjustment, although the timing is somewhat different from last year. Last year, it was 3x from 11/15 to 12/30, but this year it goes to 3x on 11/1 and the 4th flight doesn't return until February. It's probably not a bad move, since I remember lots of empty seats when I flew to LAS last January. The one that may not be seasonal is JFK-LGB which drops to 4x. The 5th (and 6th) flights may not come back if the LGB slots get used for other routes (LGB-ORD?). Bill |
