What are the best sign up bonuses for membership rewards points? 10k for the gold card is the best I have seen: https://www201.americanexpress.com/cards/Applyfservlet?csi=76/15503/b/224&PID=1&PSKU=PGO&CRTV=A000003WCXPGO&EAID=x%2FS254V%2FQB8-7N5wqxEcjXwIrexXFejtaA
Are there any other bonuses out there?

10k points with your 1st purchase on the new SPG card. Much better than the old bonus where you had to stay 11 times to get the full bonus. 10,000 SPG points are worth 30,000 MR points, so this is a much better bonus. If you own a business you can get both the business and personal cards, thus earnign 20,000 bonus points...

Sorry can you explain this; I don't understand how this is.
I already have this card, and was really looking for which cards offer good MR sign-up bonuses.
Thanks :-:

I apologize for the confusion. If it's MR that you want, I just got a Business Gold card that offered 5k bonus with first charge, 5K after 10k in purchases, another 20K with 50k in spending. That's 30,000 bonus MR points with $50,000 in spending.

Standard Exchange Rate:
1000 MR points ---> 333 *wood points
(When converting MR ---> *wood, obviously)

But both can be converted 1:1 to many airline programs right?
So c'mon guys n' gals....surely one of you has some info on sign-up bonuses?? Why is everyone so tight-lipped about this?

amex doesnt really give sign up bonuses... or even MR bonuses at all. everyday spending is cut. im sure the gold 1.5/2x will be next to go.
occasionally they entice new people with decent promos (always targetted)

Are there or are there not sign-up bonuses for MR points?

sigh. i used the limiting word "really"
you can get 1 bonus maximum for each american express credit card or charge card each. so no churning possible. (#1)
the amounts are very small, not always offered, and any substantial amount is always targetted. (#2)
for amex credit cards with other points/miles, they are more reasonable amounts. (#3)
here is what you do.
go to amex site. bring up application. close application. if a bonus is offered a pop up window will tell you and have you put in your email address to send you a link to it.
do this for each membership reward card.
1 green, 2 gold, 1 plat, 1 business green, 1 business gold, 1 business plat

Thank you; so what is the largest non-targetted MR sign-up bonus that I can get? If you have a web link or phone number and offer code tha would be great. Thank you.

I replied to your post and after I replied your post had changed. Anyways, I do not know why you are taking a snippy attitude with me. I consider this to be a pretty basic question. What are the largest sign-up bonuses I can get. Why this is a major issue on the board baffles me. Surely you people have talked about this/considered it before?

5,000 bonus points with your first purchase
5,000 bonus points as a thank-you for reaching $20,000 in spending
20,000 more bonus points for reaching $50,000 in spending
10,000 additional bonus points for your one-year Card renewal
fine. i will go do the work. i dont understand why youre ignoring what i just posted.
Thank you, but I do not really understand what you posted. I do not get a single pop up from them and my popup blockers are disabled.
I thought maybe people just would know offhand what the best bonuses are. e.g. if you ask on the Delta forum they would tell you the best bonus is 17.5K miles or if you ask in the "other credit cards" forum they would tell you the best Premier Pass bonus is 15k etc. I figured this would be common knowledge on this forum.
But thanks for your help and please let me know if you know any more about this.

you could have just said you didnt understand in your last post, instead of not responding at all (to the process i gave) :)
read my last post, it has all the bonuses.
again,
the 2 business cards tell you on the main page about bonuses. the personal cards DO NOT. you have to navigate away from the application to be told about the bonus. they are hidden. because they are not always there. i would bet they are USUALLY not there.
right now there are 2 personal cards with bonuses. (and 2 business cards)
3 of the 4 cards have 5K bonuses.
the business gold rewards card has a 5K bonus, and then the ability to earn 35K more bonus points. (which was pointed out earlier in the thread)
and again, if you want an amex charge card because you dont have one, thats reasonable.
but if youre looking for points, you should be getting or churning cards like citi's 2 AA cards, BOA's US card, chase's UA card.

Another question if you don't mind :D
Can I apply for all of them at once, or is there a waiting period that has to happen between application?

you could certainly try applying for all 4 online on one day.
certainly 1 personal and 1 business would go through fine. whether the 2nd personal and 2nd business go through, youll just have to see.
in rsponse to your last questoin, awful lot of work to get 3 cards with 5K each :D

There are at least 20k in bonuses there. That is a free intra-europe or intra-asia ticket. Who could turn that down? :D

If you are willing to go through so much work for a free ticket, just apply for an airline card that gives you a 20,000-25,000 sign up bonus and get the free ticket with your first purchase. If you are willing to sign up for three cards, then be smart enough to get three free tickets, not just one.

Why does this have to be an EITHER/OR choice? Why not both?

i see it as a waste of time to sign up for 3 cards that have 5K bonuses.

as i said, amex gives you one bonus per card. forever. doesnt matter what card you get. if they issue it, you can only get the bonus once.

If you open up 4 or 5 credit cards at the same time, your credit score will take a serious hit. Only you can decide if a couple free flight is worth it.

I work in the credit business and can tell you that 4 or 5 new accounts all opened within one month will indeed have a negative effect on your credit score. The ill effects may be short lived (90 days or so), but your score will go down.

Will this have any permanent effects? and for how long can banks see that you have gone on a credit card application spree? What will make them decide that you are safe i.e. not going to cash out all their money and flee to Mexico?
