Denver Airline Files for Permission to Fly Non-Stop to Cabo San Lucas From San Jose and Sacramento, Adds Service From San Francisco to Las Vegas With Fares Starting at *$59 Each Way

DENVER, Oct. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Following on the early success of Frontier's (Nasdaq: FRNT - News) new Los Angeles (non-stop) and San Francisco (1- stop) service to Cabo San Lucas, and its Los Angeles to San Francisco shuttle service, Frontier is giving Californians even more of what they want -- Frontier fun in the sun. Frontier Airlines today announced that it has filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for authorization to expand its Mexico service from California by offering non- stop service to Cabo San Lucas (SJD) from Sacramento (SMF) with three flights a week and San Jose (SJC) with four flights per week. The new service would start in early March 2007 just in time for the Spring Break travel period. In addition, beginning December 14, 2006 Frontier will also launch new service between San Francisco (SFO) and Las Vegas (LAS) with one flight a day. To celebrate the new SFO-LAS service, Frontier is offering special introductory fares as low as *$59 each way.

Good catch. I am waiting for the UA/US/F9 price war to commence.

Flight schedule and travel perks for San Francisco to Las Vegas service
Following is the San Francisco-Las Vegas flight schedule:

San Francisco - Las Vegas
Flight Number Departs Arrives Frequency

Las Vegas - San Francisco
Flight Number Departs Arrives Frequency
1811 10:20 p.m. 11:50 p.m. Daily

A 40 minute turn in LAS with the same aircraft is not feasible at this hour due to frequency of weather delays ex SFO and flow control into LAS.

Awesome news! Thanks OP.
f9 is helping keep SFO-LAX fares down lately. I even booked a $108 all in RT last week. Lets hope they do the same in LAS.

Aloha also runs a late night flight OAK-LAS (but returns the next morning)
and previously had been competitive in that market (in the days of National Airlines).

I've found recently that either F9 will match UA on some popular routes and vice versa. I know it's kept prices here in Denver lower than I would have expected. Of course the recent arrival of SW in Denver might have an additional impact as well.
