The last few flights I have had to call more than once to check for an upgrade. I thought they were supposed to be done automatically. I flew Phl-LAX today and didn't get upgraded even though there were 28 seats in FC. :td:

Seeing that you are a US4 (Silver). It's hard to get upgraded on an A321 going from LAX cross country. Those flights are always full. You have 3 other levels ahead of you.

It is VERY hard to upgrade transcons as a Silver. I think I only cleared maybe 1/5 of the time.

As a Gold it's still only maybe 50 - 60%.

I got upgraded for tomorrow's return flight but I had to call in order to get it. I guess it's not quite automatic yet?

Silvers can get upgraded on the transcons. I flew RT CLT-LAX in August, cleared outbound at the window, and the return when at the club. On both segments they were selling FirstUps, so every preferred cleared.

It's probably because of the fact you've been 3 and 4 putting every par three lately and not picking up for the 6! :p

As well, if you flew PHL-PHX-YEG when you visit me here in your annual attempt to beat me at golf instead of using points on other airlines  , you'd be a Gold like me and have a better chance of success. :D

You kind of have to watch it.. if you bought your ticket online, I look for the email from US.. if I don't get it and see seats, I call. They usually hold back approximately 25%.

Don't forget.. silvers clear last, but also CP's et al (And THEIR COMPANION) clear ahead of you.... so its aroll of the dice...

I was on the same flight with my girlfriend and we are both Gold. We didn't get upgraded either -- even though there appeared to be 6 empty seats the night before when I checked online. When I went to the gate, the GA told me that FC was full and he actually 4 CP's on the waitlist.

I used to get upgraded PHL-LAX everytime as a GOLD -- and 75% even as a Silver in 2004. But this year US reduced the amount of flights from PHL to LAX, so there are fewer seats in general (and higher prices; I used to get RT fares for under $200 all the time!!).
