Since I have gained so much from FT (including the knowledge needed to obtain my newly minted HH Diamond status) I am glad to give something back, albeit a small hotel review!
Highlights
* Very willing to negotiate an extended-stay rate for me. I received a rate that was $20 lower than their advertised long-term rate + free high-speed internet access thrown in (was Gold at the time of the reservation)
* The front desk staff was very courteous and took the time to learn my name on check-in and have promptly called me by my name ever since. One night when room service was closed early the front desk clerk gave me like 10 bottles of water and as many packs of cookies and chips as I could carry to "tide me over until tomorrow" - now THAT is service!
* The proximity to DFW airport and DAL airport is very nice. They run a shuttle to DFW and the trip to DAL is 10-15 mins (easy ride)
* The proximity to the major roadways in DFW is great also. You have a multitude ways around that you can access and if traffic is backed up on one road you can simply choose another
* The managers reception at night and the breakfast in the morning is really good, always staffed well, and is always on-time.
* Indoor heated pool and jacuzzi... VERY nice!
Lowlights
* The location on the southside if the airport is not the best area. I always felt safe but didnt want to eat anywhere near the hotel. The eateries/shops/etc around this area are not good. I was unable to find a nice restaurant to eat at other than the hotel one or room service. Now, you can drive 10-15 mins to get to some GREAT places, but none very convenient
* The rooms on the top floors designated for HHonors members are actually smaller than rooms on the lower floors! I dont quite understand this
* When I first checked in they gave me a room on the 9th floor (2nd to the top) and I ended up BURNING up... in December. After moving me to the 2nd floor I am MUCH more comfortable and can control my temperature in the room better
* Valet laundry service wasnt great. Its probably par for what you get at hotels but my laundry was never back in my room by 7 and I always had to go to the front desk to get it (that was very annoying)
* The workout area was lacking; however, the pool more than made up for this
Hints/Tips
* When you check in, ask for a room on the 2nd floor that faces the Radisson hotel with a large balcony. The room that you will get will have a rather large balcony and your bedroom is DOUBLE the size that is is on the top floor (no exaggeration here). Also, being on the 2nd floor you are on the same floor as the laundry area and can also view the pool area through the windows to check it out before you go down.
* Pick up food on your way back to the hotel for dinner from some of the other areas in town
Thats about it! I hope this can help someone!
